Watched "Dog Pound Shuffle" last night

Sweet, heart-warming little film about two tramps who get together to try to get the older man's dog out of the pound. Wonderful story of friendship and perseverance. Two great lead performances and David Soul is just as likable here as on tv as the sweet-natured, somewhat naive younger man. (Maybe even more so.) Old-fashioned in the best sense of the word. I loved it.

David Soul could sing too! I love this:

Re: Watched "Dog Pound Shuffle" last night

I just heard that for the first time recently. It went to number one in England.

He has a nice singing voice.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

That song was very popular downunder upon first release.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Watched "Dog Pound Shuffle" last night

I was reading about it. It looks quite interesting.

It was made for theatrical release, but I think it was only released on tv.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Watched "Dog Pound Shuffle" last night

Have you seen The Stick Up?

He's nude in that one.

Are you okay?

Re: Watched "Dog Pound Shuffle" last night

No, I haven't. But I just checked and it's on YouTube! For David Soul, it looks like it could be worthwhile. I wonder how extensive the nudity is. Probably as butt shot. You can actually see that he's completely naked in the pilot episode of S&H. Of course, it's just a side profile, but he's talking to Starsky in the shower. Nice.

Thank you for telling me about the movie!

That's a really sweet movie. Ron Moody and David Soul make for a very likeable duo in it.

Yes, this is really me.

I agree.

Spoiler alert!

When the two had their plan to get Spot set in motion had me going, then Spot and Steps run out into the street towards each other and the truck comes barreling down the street and for a moment you think one of them is going to get hit and my heart jumps and then they're safe and Steps picks up his dog and has this big smile on his face, I got a lump in my throat! And the ending with the two of them and they're best buddies, talking about walking to Australia was the perfect ending!

Moody and Soul worked very well together. I loved how David's character was both dim-witted, but wise at the same time.

That's really cool that you've seen the movie. I have two friends who loved movies the way that I do and neither of them has even heard of this movie. I don't imagine it did all that great at the box office, which is a shame. It didn't even get released for four years after it was completed.
