Salem : Salem cancelled. A sad day for all witches.

WGN announced today that they will not renew the show for a 4th season. I'm so sad over this news as I love this show. :(

This sucks. Hopefully it will end with some closure

I agree. I did not see that coming. The show is too popular and I would like to think that someone would pick up the show. However, if season 3 will offer some kind of ending to the story line, depending on the writers it might be difficult to continue. I would hope that enough people who follow the show, make their voices heard regarding the cancellation, it might get turned around.

I'm wondering if it was canceled but they had already filled the entire season 3?! If that was the case we won't get a proper ending with answers and that will piss me off. That's what happened to Nashville abc announced the cancellation the wk b4 finale! What an ass move but cmt picked it right up

If they made the devil turn into a grown-up sooner instead of being an annoying little harmless kid that everyone is scared of, then the show would be better

I said it was happening before the season aired, but no one believed me. The money and the viewers just aren't there. WGN America has cancelled a few of their shows. They really had something good with Manhattan, but not enough people were watching.

I was more upset over Penny Dreadful's ending than this show, and shocked. At least Salem isn't setting people up for a letdown. They let us know that it's ending.

I sensed the show was in trouble because of that very long hiatus. it made no sense to keep up in suspense for over one year since the season 6 finale, unless they wanted to give the writers time to figure out how to end the show.

Well she birthed the devil, where else could they go from there? Hopefully it'll have a good ending.

Noo! Ugh I love this show. Season one was okay but season 2 was amazing and season 3 is great so far as well. It's pathetic that networks cancel quality shows bc millions of people aren't watching, as if starting a new show is a better idea than focusing on making a show in its third season even better for a fourth and fifth; it's so short sighted. The characters are really blooming this season and now it's going to end- damn shame.

I don't think it's so much as millions of people not watching as it is about it being the lowest rated on the network. I know WGN takes in fact that none of their shows have high ratings and not every cable provider picks up their network but since it's the lowest of the shows they have, they cancelled it. Not even Underground, which is the highest rated show on WGN has millions of viewers according to the ratings but however it gets three times as much ratings as this show.

i think its because its on WGN is why shows fail, not because its not great shows.. most people don't watch wgn or bother to even give it a chance
i think Manhattan would have soared on Netflix
and Salem would have soared on FX

I agree, this show should have been on a station like FX or The CW.

Take Supernatural (2005) for example; I'm sure it costs The CW an arm and a leg to produce, but it has been on the air for several years.

I suppose we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope Netflix or some other streaming service attempts to continue it.

Even Yahoo rolled the dice and took a chance on Community (2009) after NBC decided to jump ship.

I had a bad feeling in the Spring that WGN lost faith in the show and was throwing in the towel.They shocked everyone by saying it wouldn't air around Easter like past seasons and pushed it to Nov. instead.

Wed. nights were a big night for me. I recorded Salem, Modern Family, and South Park in that 9pm to 10:04pm time slot WGN put it in. My DVR was working over time. Those were my favorite shows. Viewers had tons of other options on Fox, CBS, and NBC to name a few that night.

I heard season 1 was doing great on Netflix. Hopefully there's a chance but with the talent and looks of Janet Montgomery and others in the cast, they may decide to move on to other projects.

I've enjoyed this season a bunch. But the ending with Anne last week (not giving away spoilers) was a bit too over the top and soap opera like. It was like a plot from Knots Landing or Melrose Place. Lol

Supernatural is now on its 12th Season, my friend. That's more than "several years."

I can see The CW picking up Salem for sure. It's got more left to it.

I love this show and this makes me sad but at least they let us know so I'm guessing they're ending it properly. It's not like WGN has much to offer in terms of good original shows, except in do watch Outsiders, but I do know that this show has a stable fan base.

Oh well, I enjoyed it while it lasted and I hope Mary and John have a happy ending.

That's too bad. I would have enjoyed seeing this show on FX or HBO, where it could push boundaries even further and have a bigger audience. It's a great show, but my guess is that the concept doesn't fit with WGN's viewers. A different network could have done wonders with this show. Just look at how American Horror Story is going strong on FX.

I just found out at the end of episode 6. I am so sad because I want this show to continue.

This makes me so sad because I commented earlier this season how I'm loving the cannon and the world it's creating with introducing fallen angels and the devil playing chess with God it can go in so many directions!! Ugh :(

Too bad. I discovered this on Netflix recently, and really got into it. This season has been insane. (Maybe they knew cancellation was coming and thoughtok, everything but the kitchen sink, this season.) Ah, well.

I'm sad, but not surprised. This show didn't have the best ratings. Hopefully they'll be able to wrap it up decently. How I Met Your Mother was on for like 9 years and had a crap ending, so longevity isn't exactly an indicator of quality.

Too bad though. I don't watch many TV shows but I liked this one.

Damn it I just found out this News! Why do all the rare one of kind shows get cancelled!? This season is already half way done I certainly hope they are able to give this series a proper ending. What a shame :(

Well there goes Wednesday night. All I have is Expedition Unknown and thats it really. The Blacklist has gotten stupid so I stopped watching it. Sleepy Hollow is on borrowed time as its just a bore now. I have Agents left on Tuesdays for now.

Im pissed that its ending, why did they put an awesome show like salem on a station like wgn, a station i never even heard of until after i watched salem on netflix. I know it would have continued to have more seasons if it was on a station like amc, fx or even hbo. This is the kind of show that should have at least 5 or 6 seasons and maybe even a talk show like the walking dead has. Could call it "Talking Salem" could of or was about to have a cult fan base like the walking dead.

the first season was good, but after that i lost interest and only watch it while i'm doing something else. Sucks for the people who really enjoyed it though!

Well, it got it's proper send-off.

It's weird, but I don't feel sorry at all.

Season 1 was brilliant, season 2 was great, but season 3 was such a mess that I missed several episodes and didn't even want to watch them.

I loved season 1 and 2 but honestly it's for the best. I struggle to keep watching now. It's not that great. Sorry. Maybe someone can do another show based on Salem better. Even that dumb show Charmed lasted longer.

That sucks. Watched the first two seasons on Netflix in a week but it hasn't gotten the third season on it yet. Well at least I know it is the last and the the 8 plus rating with reading the title should be good. I like good witch, horror, ghost, and satanic movies and series that aren't for the teeny crowd and Salem is well done. Or should say was well done now.
