What is meaning, "sincere dog lovers?"

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Recently a few of the more vocal dog lovers here were exposed as faking it. Nettie, Anna, Cornell: all professed dog lovers, all actually hate dogs. Rumor is Nettie even took an axe to one, but so far unconfirmed.

She already asked it.

Not sure if she has a follow-up, though.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Yeah, but without any BS talk. It's been a year, and my dog started vomiting up a little blood yesterday. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow morning first thing, but over the past few days he vomited a couple of times. Google is not my friend right now. I'm strict with his diet, but he got into the trash twice, that's all I can think of. He seems happy and energetic, but all the news indicates this is dangerous. He's been diagnosis with pancreatitis and GID. I've catered to him carefully for a year, we've been fine, but now this has me worried. I've only fed him 1/4 cup of food today once today.

I just don't want anything wrong for him to wrong where he has to be operated on or scoped . My guess is he'll have an ultrasound again. Blood is never a good sign.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

He has pancreatitis and IBD, which he was diagnosed with over a year ago, which I found out because he was vomiting and pooping blood. I rushed him to the vet at that time, they kept him and ran a bunch of tests to find out. They put him on a Rx diet of white fish canned food and white fish kibble. They've had all white fish kibble backordered for six months, so he's only had kibble and water. He's still on this Rx diet.

Then I found a (different) canned food that's 95% white fish (and showed it to the vet and he greatly approved it as a substitute because HIS white fish Rx diet food just showed no sign of coming in yet). He's been on this new canned fish for six cans (1 tablespoon per meal, so it's not a lot, can't imagine it's that).

He got into the trash when I was walking upstairs, so who knows what that may have been, and I did give him a few liver cookies. So this might be my fault.

He vomited a few times over the week but three times last night, one with blood, brown blood vs. bright red.

I set my alarm clock for 8:00am so I can call the vet tomorrow when they first open up. I wasn't going to bring him to the local hospital because they're horrible to the animals there. I'm so scared he's having a relapse.

Anyone who knows me, knows that what an animal person I am, and also knows how special my dog is to me. He means everything to me. I'm hoping this is something I've caught in time, or something simple to deal with,….or whatever it may be, please let this be an easy fix.

Oh, and yes, I'll be sure to update those who seem to care. He's my boy.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Thanks Nettie. I'm probably going to have to take something to sleep tonight because otherwise I'll never get to bed, and I'd be up all night, worrying about him. That's just the way I am. Or I'll try to cuddle with him, and see if that helps me to fall asleep with him. I set my clock on my phone and I'll put it next to my bedside table.

Wake up and *BOOM* call the office right away! Thank you for the well-wishes, Nettie. I'll take all the good wishes coming my way.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Thanks Anna. Not too many people get it for those of us who feel our furbabies are part of our family. So far, as I look at the notes that I've kept, adding things up, (compared to when he was first diagnosed well over a year ago), things look a lot better this time around by comparison. Similar (which is frightening) but less intense.

I think the extra cuddles and kisses are definitely healing and beneficial, usually for me as the mom. I'm the one going nuts over here. But as you know, he's quite a cuddle-bunny himself too. I'm doing a little extra **work-work** which is to hope he's protected, know what I mean? That, along with oodles of cuddles and kisses!

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

I'm sorry that your dog isn't well. I am thinking of him. I know that this is hard for you. I've been through some difficult times with our pets. You know that I am a cat lady, but I love all animals. I hope that you can get him to the vet soon. Let us know when you do find out what is going on with him. Take care.

You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

This feels like a repeat when he was vomiting and pooping blood a year or year and a half ago, (don't recall because we've had it under control with a Rx diet. He's been doing great. Until this).

I set my phone to wake me up one minute after the vets opened and called them immediately and brought him right in.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

As you know, he's my furbaby, and I've had my phone up as high as the volume would go, just in case, and I still haven't heard back from him since Monday morning. I keep waiting, and waiting, for them to call me. Just to hear something back from them. I can't stop crying, especially because it does feel like a repeat of last year. I don't want it to be something bad, or worse, than that. Can't help but feel scared. The love we have for our knuckleheads, right?

I have been off all day. I am so sorry I missed this! Please try not to feel guilty about him getting in the garbage. Things happen.

He will be okay <3 I hope you get some sleep!

Keep your thoughts positive and try to distract yourself if you can (I know, tall order when your baby is under the weather).

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

❤️ Be silly with him. Remember our fur babies pick up our every emotion. 🙂

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Mine really picks up on my mood. I'm sure that when he sensed how anxious I got when this started on Friday, it didn't help him any. It's hard to calm myself down when I'm so connected to him, but I'll really try. I need to try.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

I know that feeling well. But do try however impossible, to keep your emotions positive.

I never posted about it but last year I lost my animal soul mate, the cat I'd had a large chunk of my life. It happened quickly and I wasn't even allowed much time to grieve before one of my Irish friends contacted me to apologetically ask if I could help with his cat's 2 remaining kittens (he was going to keep those 2 but ended up getting a job that meant he wouldn't be home much) so even though I wasn't ready, I got given 2 kittens.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

You're right, it is difficult to keep my emotions positive. But I feel like if I do that, I'll feel guilty.

When I lost my last dog, I wasn't given much time to grieve as the next day, my long-term relationship ended abruptly. The very next day. Just terminated after the loss of my dog, which was from cancer (he bled out internally). Timing just sucked.

I'm trying to keep my head on straight.

I hope your receiving the two unexpected cats, though without the time to grieve your familiar, helped in some small way in building a bond.

Damn, the time. She's moving so slow. No phone call yet! What the heck?! What can they be doing over there with him?

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Don't feel guilty. When you keep spirits up for another being it's for their benefit.

Oh yeah, the little siblings are doing great. Ash had exactly one month of being the sole kitty of the household, and I actually think all this having happened so fast was best for all of us.

I see the little girl doing my little girl used to do and half of me is sad because I miss my wee black thing…and then I get happy that another little one is taking up her mantle.

I'll post a pic of them if you wanna see them. They only really look related if you notice their colouring and mannerisms. Otherwise they don't look alike except for ear tufts and blue eyes. The boy looks pure bred ragdoll. The only sign of ragdoll she has is the blue eyes and the ear tufts.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Yes, definitely! Post pics! I'm always up for animal pics, for sure.

Re: Are there are any sincere dog lovers here?

Their names are Zeus and Hera. I didn't name them, my friend did since their mother is his and her name is Nyx. He kept the family line Greek god namesaked. And he gave the kittens to me "unfixed" so the first 2 weeks while waiting for the boy to go first was me shaming Zeus for trying to get a leg up on his sister wife. 😑 Appropriate names are appropriate. 😂😂😂

Oh boy, fun and games. Had to kitten proof my place, and months later with flying kittens, still getting stuff broke. Especially when Zeus goes flying. Shit….on the 7th they both turn 1 year old. But while she's tiny, he's an absolute UNIT. Not even joking. And he hates being alone. He xan't even be in another room alone without calling for either his sister or his human parents. He's beside me right now, probably wondering why I'm on my phone except playing with him.

Ok, will upload a pic for you of both of them. They're very vocal and super cute. She's lethally intelligent. Probably tied #1 smartest cat I've ever had. Problem-solving smart. You only ever have to show her something ONCE. The boy? He's so floofy you'll laugh out loud and never take him seriously, ever.

I wasn't given time to really mourn but I always said I'd leave that whole thing up to fate and so it was. I get moments, and I always will, when I do a double take because I miss her so much. It's both hard seeing Hera take over her blanket, for example, but at the same time cool that it's being readopted, like it's meant to.

I'm sure that your baby will be fine, probably going to get some meds to take and some special food for a while, and some monitoring. ❤️ Best thoughts to him, and to you during this time. It's always tough. And whether we're dog or cat people, when you connect with an animal it's a real connection even if they can't give you words back. If you're sharp you know what they mean.

That's incredible the names they came with. I love the personalities they came with as well. I know what you mean about having to keep them apart as they came into themselves as they grew into their teenage years, so to speak.

As much as I'm a dog person, I've also always had cats as well, up until my last cat died, and he died in my arms. He was all black with a white spot on his chest, and he was definitely my boy. I stayed with him for his last 3 days and never left his side. I couldn't tell if that pleased him, or annoyed him, but I wouldn't let him leave this Earth and be alone in the process. I did the same with my last dog. I never will do that to one of our beloved creatures of this planet, especially one that has a piece of my heart attached to it.

Isn't it unique, the way our beloved animals come into our lives? My cat came to me because my mother was going to "get rid of him and his mother" because she wanted new carpets! Talk about priorities. I just couldn't believe it. My jaw dropped that any so-called human being could have a "priority" like that: carpet > living being. *smdh*

All of mine came to me via rescue. My last horse was going to be put down because the bloody toe rag who owned her never cleaned her stall, and the pee and sod rotted the floor boards until her weight broke through and her leg got caught and she broke 1/3 of her hoof off. Normally that means a bullet, but her blacksmith knew I was good with horses and that I could rehabilitate her. It took almost two years, and no riding her, but I did it. It took so much effort and above all love and tender care, but we made it, and I helped to make her rideable again. She was the most well-trained horse I've ever owned. The best. I can't believe anyone would neglect such an incredibly trained and even-tempered horse. Fucking bellend pillock. To think she almost lost her life, it breaks my heart.

It feels good to give these wonderful animals a second chance at love and belonging.
