Actors and Actresses : Who's your guilty pleasure?

Who's your guilty pleasure?

Me and some friends played a game where we picked somebody we found attractive that was not considered attractive. I said Don Ho and won the game.

I still don't think he is all that offbeat of a choice.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Don Ho is attractive

I'm not sure what others find attractive; I find Dan Abrams attractive

I don't always go by just looks

Do you have some insider information you would like to share dear…..

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Indeed I do…

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Willem Dafoe for me. What a gorgeous lived in face.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I never considered him before, but, yes, the pic speaks a lot to what you just said. Very appealing. Good off the beaten path choice!

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I love DaFoe as an actor, but I've never warmed to him as being much of a looker. He just doesn't pique my libido.

I often wonder how it would have turned out if Dafoe and Berenger had switched roles in Platoon - '86.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I always thought he was sexy AF

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I don't know what he is from, but he isn't ugly by any stretch of the means.

When I first saw James Le Gros in a movie, Phantasm II - '88, I thought he was ugly for some reason. After a few viewings of it I started to warm to him and decided he was a honey. This isn't the most flattering shot, but that's the gist….

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

He has a nice mouth.

I've always thought that Richard Kiel was handsome. I actually got to meet him and it was sad because he was such a big man, like seven foot four, that he couldn't stand up for very long without it becoming too much pressure.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

He's aged quite nicely too….

Nice you got to meet Jaws, I mean Kiel. My favorite 007 villain.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Yes, he's a memorable villain for sure. He was so cute in "Eegah!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

James is another of my guilty pleasures too. He was great in Pronto. - A little under the radar gem.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Thread makes no sense to me since beauty is in eye of the beholder…

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Fair enough.

I had a friend who thought Dustin Hoffman was gorgeous.

I had a crush on Hoffman in Kramer vs Kramer - '79

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

And who didn't fall in love with Dorothy Michaels?

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

As a character yes, but I didn't find Dorothy a honey….

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Yes. That's what I meant. And horizontal stripes make her look too hippy!

Though Charles Durning took a shining to her. That was such a cute little touch!

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

All these performers in this marvelous gem were at the top of their game.

Dorothy also didn't like to wear certain clothing because it made her look too dumpy and cut her across the bust….

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

"Cuts me across the bust!" That was hilarious.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

That is why its Who's YOUR guilty pleasure. It's within your own eye.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Thank you!

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I guess I don't believe in guilty pleasures. 😂

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Surely there is somebody that you fell for in movie or series, or even in music, that you had a secret little crush on that was a tad left field.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Nope.

See if you go by your own eyes, the ones you find attractive are, well, attractive. It's other people you're taking into account with guilty pleasures because it goes against THEIR definition, not yours.

I have been asked by a friend howcome I love a certain actor. So I guess it's that type of thing you mean. Still not a guilty pleasure.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

That is reasonable logic you have expressed and I get your point.

Attraction is all subjective and one can't gauge this based on someone else's opinion, but it is also interesting to make a comparison and if it is shared.

The guilty pleasure aspect is more how the person can make you feel.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

"it is also interesting to make a comparison if it is shared."
———-
Yes. This is what I meant. John Waters has said before that he thought Don Knotts was hot and this would be a very good example of an interesting choice.

I could say that I think that Peter Falk was adorable and I'd think people might see him as an offbeat choice.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

It can also be a tell about other's personalities by what they find attractive.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

100 percent

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Fair enough, but I think "guilty pleasure" is not too difficult a concept to grasp.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

It is for me since guilt is attached to wrong doing. A true guilty pleasure would be one of actual taboo. The term is thrown about too casually so I can understand how the meaning gets lost over time.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Well, who do you find attractive that most/many people would find unattractive?

When I first saw "Fatal Attraction", I thought Glenn Close was much prettier than Anne Archer and I am pretty sure I am in the minority on this one.

And Christopher Walken was beautiful in "The Deer Hunter" and I don't think a lot of people would agree here.

I also think Cloris Leachman was extremely attractive in her Oscar-winning acceptance speech I think she is more attractive than Raquel Welch (though Welch is undeniably hot) and I don't think a lot of people would agree.

So "Guilty" is probably not the best word, but it's functional.

Or if you thought Glenda Jackson was ravishing to look at, that would be an interesting choice.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

I don't feel good about offering his lovely face up for a possible ugly contest.

Although….the offerings of the thread si far are nice enough.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Who? Christopher Walken?

You seem like you have a good heart, but the point of the OP is less about how you described it and more about revealing your own offbeat tastes. Anybody can say that Elizabeth Taylor is beautiful. An obvious choice, but not a very interesting one.

Now, if somebody said the awkwardly attractive Barbara Colby was beautiful, that would reveal more about the individual himself/herself. I love her face, but she is not a classic beauty.

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Shame they never caught her murderer(s)

Re: Who's your guilty pleasure?

Yes, it was tragic. It will always kind of haunt me. And that has a lot to do with all the sweetness and trustingness that showed up in her face. Not all murders are equal.
