Good or Decent Songs Used Badly In FilmsI know I've definitely heard a few examples that fit that category you're speaking of, but I just can't think of any off the top of my head atm. However, I recently had a problem somewhat related to your topic, where IMHO the soundtrack background music in the film didn't match the scene or action it was used in. I re-watched Blast of Silence (1961) a few days ago, and felt some of the loud, garish jazz tracks they used in some places were way out of synch with the vibes the plot was giving me at that point.

I can't identify any of the movies those songs appeared in but the worst use of a song in a movie that I can think of was "Take My Breath Away". Not in Top Gun but in Ocean's Eleven. They used about three seconds of it, the part with "take my breath away", to punch up a scene where somebody gets shot and killed. It's abrupt and clumsy. Take My Breath away is a good song in case somebody is going to dispute that.

👍
The movie the songs I posted all from The Great Gatsby…but only a couple of them were played in the movie and didn't really go with the plot…lol
The rest are during the ending credits…for like 20 minutes. The movie itself was well over 2 hours long and wasn't really that good…so you know thee wouldn't be many staying to listen to those.

Here is the exact scene you are talking about.
I figure they used that music for two reasons.
1) To reflect the times. If you watch the previous heist attempt flashbacks they have songs that came out in those eras.
2) He gets shot to death and is therefore not breathing anymore.
"Please vote to preserve the unique character of Warren…" - Robert Duvall

I thought the Rage Against the Machine song at the end of the latest Matrix was a bad choice. It worked well in the first Matrix back in 1999, but it isn't a music style that is popular anymore so it felt dated.

And even worse are only played during the longest ending credits when 90% of the audience has already walked out of the theater
These songs could've been saved for a better movie
Can you guess the film without looking up the soundtrack?
(none of the vids are from the movie…just the songs)
Feel free to add other examples of this with other films
