Ferris Bueller's Day Off : Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Which John Hughes film do you like better? I personally prefer Bueller, Bueller.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Never saw FB and never care to so I gotta go with BC and since my gf saw the movie set in an old HS gym in the Chicago area.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Since you never saw FB, and you don't care to see it, isn't it a bit hard to give an opinion?
I'm simply saying that it's impossible to decide between one thing or another if there is nothing to compare.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Warren doesn’t understand this, he doesn’t get context and like Ferris is one of life’s lucky guys, Warren is one of life’s trolls, unfortunately for us…

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

The Breakfast Club….

The Breakfast Club, hands down!

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Ferris, I never liked and actually hate The Breakfast Club.

Without strife, you do not advance.
Without strife, there is only stagnation.

FBDO

TBC is over-hyped.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Both are really good movies. I enjoy them both, but I have to go with Ferris, if for no other reason than these scenes…

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

I don't mind TBC, how can one not fall into Hughes 80's charm and nostalgia, but I don't gravitate towards it like Ferris.

Ferris is one of those I wish I had seen at the cinema movies. I ignored it at the time due to being over Hughes films by then and had read an average local rag review that misguided me.

Its one of my favorite 80's comedies now.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Both films do take you back to the 80s.
While Ferris was the one you wish you could have been in HS, The Breakfast Club was interesting in that it brought together pretty much each representative of High School cliques. You didn't even have to be a teenager of the 80s in order to relate. Every school has it's jocks, the popular girls, the nerds, the ignored, and of course, the bad boys who smoked, drank, drugged… some of us girls did a bit of that as well…
The interesting part about TBC was that it brought each of these "representatives" together for a day, and of all reasons? Detention. We gradually find out what each of them did in order to be there. It was a good movie. No doubt about it.
I liked both movies even though , by the time I saw them, I was a 30 year old mother of a 6 year old.
I still enjoy them at 66.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Nice take on TBC. It was more intimate than Ferris and I was just pretty much out of high school myself when these films came out, yet I don't really care that much for the characters in Club. I feel somewhat detached from them, so I'd say I might find my viewing experience of it a tad spurious, even though it was representing the familiar cliques.

I find the psychology of Ferris as a character interesting and the film went for the adventurous comedy approach and it worked sold on the charismatic star power of Broderick.

Ferris was just one of life's lucky guys that you can't help but admire, yet also want to throttle at the same time. He was a cheeky pain in the derriere. I got how his frustrated sister and Cameron felt and they saw how manipulating he was at times, as did Rooney, who found out the hard way that Ferris was unbreakable.

The film also looked good too from a cinematic approach, (Hughes first scope movie), and really showcases daytime mid 80's Chicago beautifully without any pretentiousness in the style.

As someone in this thread said, it's a movie about living in the moment. That was Ferris… and the boy in the police station/Charlie Sheen.
These days? Not a bad way to live.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

I like both films but BC is the better of the 2. I find some scenes in FB cringey to watch now 😀

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

I like "THE BREAKFAST CLUB" although I actually haven't seen "FERRIS BUELLER's DAY OFF" in a long time that I now barely remember most of the Movie.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Which school was better: Faber or Ridgemont?

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Ferris Brueller even though I hardly watch it.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Ferris Bueller for sheer joyful escapism.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

I like Bueller more, it's more of a nice escapist fantasy film, it has a few serious moments but it's mostly just for fun.

Re: Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club?

Both are good.
