East of Eden (1954)
I was a teenager when I saw this on television for the first time. James Dean's reconciliation with his paralyzed father destroyed me and is just as powerful today as the night I saw it all those years ago.
And This, Too, Shall Pass Away

Beware the sound of one hand clapping.
Re: Movie scenes that bring you to tears
The scene in Titanic where Jack freezes to death.
Noah and Allie in the ending scene of The Notebook.
The scene in Jurassic Park where the baby dinosaur is being hatched. If people have cried at seeing their children being born, is it weird enough for me to find a animal being born in a movie sad?

The scene in The Basketball Diaries where Leonardo DiCaprio and his buddies, one of them who is bald and dying of cancer go to a strip club and he says something along the lines of "I won't have fun anymore".
Also, the funeral scene was sad.

Watching all of the movie Philadelphia made me emotional.

Finally I get to add another post.
The part of the documentary where Val talks about his mom's passing and old videos of his mom play. I didn't know his mom obviously. But I felt a connection to her. See I would call out to my kid all the time when they were young like how in those home videos Val's mom did with Val.
I would act like she did when my kids were recording anything on their device. I was curious about new things they did.
So watching that part of the film which was able to pull deep feelings of sorrow, loss and nostalgia from my soul. There were tears in my eyes at the same time the camera showed Val with tears in his eyes, saying that he misses his mom.
There was another part of the film where Val was invited to a showing of his movie Tombstone in Austin a few years ago I guess. Val talked about how he would feel depressed and dispare over his career mostly likely being over. It showed a scene of Val sitting at a table signing his autograph for fans. Around this time of the film, Val says he felt like he was selling his old self because he isn't that movie star anymore.
And I wanted to post a special topic for Val here on filmboards. I wanted him to understand that he is so wrong!! He's not selling his old self to people. He should change his perspective. We are his fans. We love him and those films he made. So he isn't selling his past. We are honoring that past. We are celebrating it.
But I never wrote the post. Why bother? This is filmboards. Nothing is taken seriously here.

When that Orange Cassidy theme by the Pixies started playing during Val's narration

Up (2009)
The opening sequence of this 2009 masterpiece contains one of the most tear-jerking montages. No matter how many times I re-watch this scene, it’s not a matter of if this montage will make me cry but a matter of when.

The scene in "Carrie" where Miss Collins finds Carrie hiding out because she thinks the other kids are trying to "trick me again". I just always found that part so heartrending because Carrie is only 16 years old and she's already tired of life and she doesn't even know why they are so mean to her.

The final scene of "Umberto D". Might be the saddest movie scene I've ever watched.

Re: Movie scenes that bring you to tears
I know it's not meant to be a sad scene, but the part in "Dumbo" when the sweet little guy is able to enjoy the comfort of his loving and protecting mother is just so innocent and precious that it is extremely touching and does make me tear up.

Shirley MacLaine is excellent in this movie.

You're so STUPID Rose!
The music really brought the tear. I don't think the moment would have had as much impact on my senses had that music been playing in the background.
Jack would have gotten to safety if he dumped Rose. Jack was a survivor until he hooked up with her. Notice how Cal survived the crash. He died later on for his own selfish reasons.
He sacrificed himself for that selfish bitch Rose.

The Superman II opening credits especially when he saves the school bus on The Golden Gate Bridge. I drove across it once and thought of this scene the whole time.
