Classic Film : Your Favorite Movies of 1965?

Re: Your Favorite Movies of 1965?

36 Hours is one of my dad's favorite movies. It's pretty good.

Saw it in the movies when it first came out. My mom took us. She loved James Garner.

Re: Your Favorite Movies of 1965?

What's not to love about James Garner? Very likable and extremely easy on the eyes. He was born to play Jim Rockford. Did your mom like TRF?

Yes, Watched it all the time.

Re: Your Favorite Movies of 1965?

It's a good show. Maybe my favorite tv themes song of all time. Those little answering machine intros were the best.

Stuart Margolin was fun as Angel.

The Naked Prey– Yes, love this one.

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold– Great Richard Burton film and John LeCarre novel.

The Sound of Music— of course

Ship of Fools–Saw it once; didn't really like it. Maybe I'll check it out again.

36 Hours–I know this is great, but only saw part of it. I wish Youtube and Prime would show all these films for free!

Doctor Zhivago- I agree with the critics on this one. It was an overly long soap opera with dumbed down dialogue that didn't do justice to the book. In spite of the great actors and the sets in Spain. Good, but not the classic it should have been.

The Sandpiper- I liked it because of Liz and Dick and the setting in Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, etc. Filmed in late 1964. But the script is another story; Richard as a priest?! I mean really!

The Great Race– Never liked it

How to Murder Your Wife– I still have to see it.

Mean people suck.

No

Re: Your Favorite Movies of 1965?

If you get a chance, check out "Mamma Roma" and "Accatone" (the only feature films I like of Pasolini's, but his "Meetings" is a fine documentary)
