Storytelling : A few things

I just read on IMDB that the scene with Selma Blair and Robert Wisdom was completely unstimulated. I also noticed that when Leo Fitzpatrick’s character, Marcus said, “you don’t sweat anymore.” but, like another user said, he wasn’t sweaty, either. However, after Vi goes to see Marcus after her encounter with her professor, he says, “You’re all sweaty.”

It being unstimulated might explain it getting an NC-17 rating. I don’t know why Marcus would think that her not sweating would make him think she’s tired of him, though. I also noticed he didn’t seem sweaty at all.

I don’t know why he would think that, either. She explained she was never that much of a sweater.

It could have also been rated NC-17 for the dialogue.

I have to give Leo Fitzpatrick credit for this role. It would probably be hard to stay in character in that first scene.

I saw this for the first time today on Amazon Prime, and I wonder why Marcus was looking at himself in the mirror and calling himself a freak. Also, I read on another website that someone felt the opening scene was bad taste to show a disabled person doing it. Why? The scene with the professor was better HOW?

Maybe Marcus regretted treating Vi that way, and I agree with you about the scene with Robert Wisdom.

No way on earth that scene would fly today.

That’s for sure. If Todd Solondz made this today, he’d have to leave out that scene.

I don’t think that the movie could be made at all today.

The scene with the professor was more explicit in terms of dialogue, but I thought that the beginning scene looked more real.

I also read that. It says on IMDB that there weren’t any closeups of that scene out of respect for the actors.

That could also be why Marcus wasn’t shown until after they finished, out of respect for the actor playing him.

Well, they finished the second that scene started, and the actor’s name is Leo Fitzpatrick.

I doubt that’s true, because I’ve never heard of a movie that had something like that unstimulated.

Another poster was wondering if Leo Fitzpatrick was nervous about the opening scene. Well, Kids was pretty graphic, so he was probably used to putting himself out there like that.

I noticed when Vi hugged Marcus, his back seemed to be sweaty, or maybe I’m just seeing things.

I thought that as well.

I just looked on IMDB again, and the bit of trivia you mentioned is gone. Maybe it wasn’t true.
