Word of mouth. I think.
Re: Up to $135.6 million worldwide
No. It'll break 200 million. There is a 2 week delay in stats for overseas.
***Edit**** Maybe that stats are updated. It says of "2/12" but if you dig deeper into the breakdown only one week is posted. The overall gross doesn't reflect what it says it made the first week.
Plus, unlike America, it'll last longer in theaters. Sony wouldn't have done so much promo if it wouldn't!
China made 17.7 million for Retribution.
21.6 million for Afterlife.
I'm going to say it should be able to pull in at least 15 million for TFC. America is the only country where it saw a decline in people. Every country has had major break through numbers for the premiere. Japan just has bad exchange dollar rates, so it didn't break Retribution's gross.
January/February/March are usually the slowest times of the year. People will only see the movies they want to see. Everyone is broke because of Christmas and nobody spends unnecessary money they don't need.
September has always been a successful month for Resident Evil. It's right after Summer and people usually have money and don't mind blowing it on a franchise that apparently sucks!

Re: Up to $135.6 million worldwide
In an anti-intellectual world where a certifiable dunce like Donald Dumbf can be U.$. president, and where people can brazenly deny scientific fact, it's little wonder that literal brain-rot etched to film, could still make some money.
Up to $135.6 million worldwide
