Resident Evil: The Final Chapter : Better portrayal: Sienna's JILL or Ali's CLAIRE?

For me it's Sienna's take on Jill that's the best game-movie transfer. Obviously Sienna had been studying the character passionately before shooting Apocalypse. She was so impressively spot on, she almost stole the movie from Milla. The looks, the voice, the body language - she masterfully created the live action version of Jill Valentine, like no other actor in the series managed to do when portraying a game character. Then there was Retribution's robotic Jill - Sienna couldn't do much about it, as there was not much of Jill left in the character. She tried her best though.
As for Ali Larter's Claire - she was OK, she did fine, but lacked the WOW factor Sienna brought to her character. Unlike Sienna, Ali wasn't perfect casting, she didn't look much like the games' Claire, she lacked that girlishness and warmth. Ali's vibe was mature and tough, more like RE Revelations Claire. She gave a decent performance, but not an impressive one like Sienna.

Claire was far more personable and likeable as a character but Jill was more kickass and cunning in your characters motions and choices.

Jill in Resident Evil Apocalypse was Jill from RE Nemesis hands down and I loved it. Claire had that Sarah Connor from T2 vibe, it just didn't work. And Alice stole every scene from them and left them her leftovers.

The answer is obvious.

Almost stole the show from Alice? We know that the only reason a true Resident Evil character was overshadowed by that terrible actress (and I use the word actress very loosely) playing the biggest Mary Sue in movie history is because the director is screwing her. These movies never should have been about a character who isn't even in the games period
Sienna was definitely great as Jill, by the way.

I do wish Jill would have came back in a larger role in this film since it would have been great seeing Jill, Alice, and Claire kick ass against issacs. I hated what retribution did to her character.

Ali doesn't remind of Claire at all. Not her appearance, mannerisms, personality, nothing. Big disappointment there. Sienna did remind me of Jill, sometimes more, sometimes less, so she wins easily.

Ali's Claire is what we see in Revelation's Claire. She has put herself in a shell from others and becoming distant with her emotions. The fun charismatic Claire that you want from Resident Evil 2 and CVX doesn't exist anymore because she lost Steve and has seen so much loss in her work with Terra Save. In the films, it is literally the end of the world everyone and everything she knows in her old life is gone. Yet Ali still plays the protective and supportive heroine in the films as we see in the games.

I think the one who looks like Claire is Felicity Jones. I think she(or Kaya Scodelario) could be awesome as Claire.

Sienna did about her counterpart in videogames. So yeah, SIENNA'S JILL BIG TIME!

I prefer Sienna's Jill, but really, she is NOTHING like videogame Jill. Ali is, more or less, kinda closer to what videogame Claire is about (Not so much a fighter, but a survivor and a protector), but still not quite.
Really, almost every character from the games is so in name only. Probably the closest are Ada and Wesker, and Wesker was is a LOT crazier in the games.
Other than that, we have Chris who, funny enough, is more similar to Amnesia!Chris from RE6 than his usual self, and then Leon and Barry, who were a straight up joke. (Although you can't hate Kevin Durand, and, whatever character he played, was AWESOME)

I know right? Jill's attitude in RE2 was so different from the games. Smoking, effing, complete kunt with civilians that want an Emmy. Lol


RE3 Nemesis's Jill was very human and kind. Worried about helping others around. Anyway Monster Hitlerian Feminazism was rising back then. Haha

I thought Sienna looked more like Jill than Ali did Claire, but I think Ali is the better actress. Sienna was meh in Apocalypse and plain poor in Retribution IMO. While as I thought Ali was solid.

I liked Sienna's Jill Valentine, but Ali's Claire Redfield was all wrong. For one thing, she was way too old. In the video games, she came across as a teen-ish girl. Ali didn't even make herself up to resemble the character unlike Sienna with her character. To me, she was Claire in name only. I mentioned years ago on the message board for RE: Retribution that I would have preferred Amber Tamblyn for the role of Claire.

Sienna looks more like the game character than Ali with Claire but as movie characters I prefer Claire, she's far more likeable and Ali's acting was better than Sienna's.

I don't think Jill was ever meant to be all that likeable. She was a tough as nails police commando after all.

Really, i mean, movie!Jill was a dirty sailor compared to game!Jill. She's cool, but Jill Valentine she aint. The most ive ever heard Jill say in the games, i think, might have been "sh!t". Game Jill is also nowhere as emotional. You could say she's cool and tough when she needs to be, but a total cutie any other time (and yet i totally wouldn't wanna get on her bad side). Guess that's the difference between a true badass and someone who ACTS like one.

Yeah, but out of fairness, RE: Apocalypse which first featured the movie version of Jill was an rated R film. Now contrast that with video games made for the mainstream masses during the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's that were relatively tame. R rated elements like hard cursing and nudity were rare to non-existent in those games. Even the supposedly un-PC Nuke Nukem was tame by today's standards. The only thing they never seem to have a problem with is CGI blood and gore. Go figure.

That's true, but my point is Sienna (Or, wellAnderson or whomever) made Jill unnecessarily harsh and aggressive, whereas Jill in the games was one tough cookie without being rude or unpleasant. (Yes, she could grill someone pretty hard now and then, but not without reasonshe even went easy on Barry when he was forced to betray her). And, yes, she didn't go around "fvck this, fvck that". (Or, as stupid as it seems, smoking)
She acts more like Moira Burton if she were a tad more mature.
