Resident Evil: The Final Chapter : Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
This movie will be the biggest bomb in the franchise domestically. Underworld barely cracked 30 million. And if Resident Evil is making less, it probably won't even crack that milestone.
I seriously thought this film would've broken at least 40 million easily! It's better than Retribution

Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
A) Five years was WAY too long for a franchise like this
B) Believe it or not, people really didn't like how everyone from Retribution was dropped. Even my parents, who just casually watch these, wanted to know why they were missing.
C) Word of mouth is BAD. People hate the editing, hate the retcons, hate the darkness, etc.
D) January release is always trouble. Literally nothing ever does well in January.

Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Because as bad as the last Underworld was, at least you could see the action.
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Retribution wasn't that horrible, at least its pretty fun to watch. The things I disliked about Retribution was:
Leon's role being just a cameo
Removing Chris, Claire and K-Mart (but they are at least in footage)
Michelle Rodriguez being the last baddie (she should have mutated)
This movie didn't advertise Wesker at all, so a turn of for videogame fans, Claire is just a nice prop but her face in movie was too dark or too blurry and Alice barely made eye contact with her.
Claire scenes were too dark in the tower fight, I barely saw her giving a kick but it was nice how she was till the end.
-"I'm good but not THAT good" Jill Valentine

Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Retribution was beyond horrible. There fixed it for you.
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Yeah, domesticallyprobably because of split. Oh well, still trying money overseas which is good
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Underworld: Blood Wars was a better movie. At least the editing was decent enough that you could actually see what was happening during the action sequences.
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Well, by this point, the fanbase is what it is, and it IS small. You don't waste a ton of money promoting the last movie of a franchise. You just put it out there and squeeze the last dollars you can from the money tree. There's no new hordes of fans to obtain. People have made their minds up about these movies three movies ago. Really, we're bloody lucky to have gotten the 6th wrapup film at all.
Underworld, such as it is, still has a breath of potential and the excitement of a return to form. And straight up, zombies aren't so popular anymore. That trend is finally waning. Also, the mythology of Underworld is a bit more interesting than the now tired super virus. It simply has broader appeal to general audiences. Vampires and werewolves are classic monsters for a reason.
"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Thank god zombies are waning in popularity. While I liked some of the films, I've always found The Walking Dead incredibly dull and never understood the popularity of zombies really since they have no personality and don't offer much in the way of actual character.
Re: Underworld is outperforming TFC :(
Watch 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later. When I was a teen with my friends I used to watch these movies. Its what created the zombie atmosphere. It wasn't so much the zombie itself but the possible scenarios of a zombie apocalypse happening in real life and applying that situation realistically to a film your watching that makes it so incredibly terrifying.

On Monday, Resident Evil couldn't even break a million. What is going on?! It should've easily broken almost 2 million. Milla needs to start promoting in the US.
