Arrival : Would we really want a peaceful relationship with aliens?

Humans don't get along with each other and discriminate their own race. So how humanity could get along with an alien species?

Human fear and the need to dominate would prevent a positive contact with aliens even if they were here to help us.

Perhaps the arrival or contact with an alien species would bring humanity together, galvanize us as a species to get past things such as race. I also tend to think little of us as a species, but some morning I think we're better than all this that's currently going on.

I think contact with an alien race would be a good thing for both parties, but it has to be done in small doses over a period of time. Otherwise it'll blow up.

If aliens were capable of that kind of voyage they would be so far ahead of us technologically that it would be suicidal for us to take any other posture than compliance. So yes, we'd be peaceful. We'd also be afraid, for good reason.

I doubt the powers that be would disclose that information to the public. I certainly wouldn't if I were in their shoes.

The only thing I know is that we sure as hell would not want a war with an alien capable of getting to earth. The fact that they got here means they're far more advanced than us, which would mean we could NEVER beat them. It wouldn't be like independance day where we actually stand a chance and even win.

So I think we wouldn't have any other choice but doing whatever they want us to do.
