It seems like every song posted so far doesn't have him as the lead singer.

Re: Rest in peace
I threw up to this song, and then it became "Our Song" between me and my boyfriend at the time.
He went away to boot camp and when he came back he looked so different I didn't recognize him. This song was playing the first time we had sex when he got back, and I threw up because I felt like I was cheating on him. Couldn't go through with it.
We later had a good laugh about it, and changed the lyrics to "let me brush, your rock n' roll nubs" (referencing the new very short hair…he looked like Keanu Reeves in John Wick when we parted and came back with a shaved head and 15 pounds lighter).
"Life is tough. Get a helmet." – Candace Owens
"Not today, Satan!" – Blaire White

I don't think The Cars get enough recognition for their part in bringing in the 80's.
For me they were a major influence in bridging the 70's into the 80's and a glimpse of what was to come in the early 80's. At least in the U.S. It was the beginning of "new wave" or "techno pop" or whatever you want to call it.
I don't think they hit the masses until the MTV years. I prefer their early stuff.
This has never been my favorite music genre but the Cars will remain one of my favorite bands ever.
We may not have Ric Ocasek anymore but we will always have his music.

Yes, they were one of the first new wave bands to hit it big. They were still acceptable to mainstream rock fans but were also synthetic punk.

That's a great point. Not many people didn't like The Cars. If you liked what was happening to music during this time (besides disco) then you liked The Cars. It seems they were accepted by almost everybody. It was something different that got a lot of airplay.
