Re: The Shop Around the Corner

One of my favorites. I love the script based upon the Miklós László play, all the performances, and the impeccable direction by Ernst Lubitsch. It's a gem for sure.

And although I don't think the film is as good, I also very much enjoy and appreciate the later musical version, In the Good Old Summertime (1949), starring Judy Garland and Van Johnson. Worth a look for those who haven't seen that one.

Oh my goodness, yes, YES! I love In the Good Old Summertime. Did you also watch Little Shop Around the Corner (1940)?

Re: The Shop Around the Corner

Oh, yes, for sure I saw it. I mentioned it in my previous post, but I can see how that got lost in my comments about In the Good Old Summertime. Sorry about that.

The Shop Around the Corner is one of my classic favorites. It's really an exquisite film. I love the script based upon the Miklós László play, the wonderful performances by Stewart and Sullavan, et al, and the impeccable direction by Ernst Lubitsch. There's plenty of the "Lubitsch touch" in this film. It's a gem for sure.

Btw, thanks for the trailers. 🙂
