Time to throw a wrench in this thread… Malcolm's music had a huge influence on the 80's HipHop scene. He went from managing the Sex Pistols to producing Hiphop/Rap music.

McClaren's not Scottish but he was an important musical influence. Another of his bands is Bow Wow Wow with Annabelle Lwin.

Scotland has lots of great bands recently with Fatherson, Frightened Rabbit, Mogwai, Biffy Clyro, Idlewild, Twin Atlantic, Belle and Sebastian etc.
I saw Fatherson last weekend and they’re better than anything coming out of the US just now. Seeing them again in London next month:
