Assassin's Creed : Only 3 showings a day at my theater
Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
Versus Rogue One's every half hour movie showing. How in the hell is this movie supposed to make money?
Yeah, this movie is a huge flop waiting to happen. At the AMC theater I go to, Assassins Creed is only showing twice per day, one at 2:15 P.M and the other at 8:00 P.M. For a movie that cost 200 million bucks to make, this is absolutely unacceptable. We can see from the showtimes that they really don't give a rats ass about this movies success. They want this movie to fail. This shows that when the clowns over at Ubi Soft said that making money is not really a motive for making this movie, they really meant it. This movie will most likely bomb even harder than Warcraft.
Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
When they said that, they meant UBISOFT wasn't going to make much money from the movie. Obviously Fox wants money. Ubisoft was mostly there for creative guidance and ensuring they followed canon, but they didn't have much of a financial stake in the movie, so they weren't expecting much back, regardless of how well the movie did. People really completely misunderstood what they were saying there.

That's not what I got out of what they said pal. They made it very clear that they just don't really give a sh!t about this movies success regardless of how much of a return in profits they get back. The only reason they wanted this movie made at all was to bolster the popularity of the game itself. This is one of the main reasons why they are making it really hard for me NOT to want this movie bomb, since we now see they really don't care looking at the theater showtimes anyway. I already don't like Ubi Soft as a company itself. I can't f#cking stand them. But the total disregard they show towards this movie makes me hate their f#cking guts even more.

Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
Read what they said again. If Ubisoft didn't care about the series, they wouldn't have worked so hard to make sure the movie is not only authentic to the series, but keeps with the canon of the series as well. They were very invested creatively, just not financially.

What are moving showings?

Allow me to demonstrate this for you then, these are the showtimes at my theater for Rogue One and Assassins Creed:
Now, if I was a fan of the game, I would be absolutely up in arms over this massive discrepancy in viewings. This is the sh!t that the OP was talking about. You don't show a movie with a 200 million dollar budget only twice per day and expect it to do well, UNLESS they really don't give a sh!t, which is what Ubi-Soft made very clear. Fox Studios sure as sh!t would not have let this happen, so I'm convinced that they are already planning on getting all that money back that they invested in this movie elsewhere.

Ubisoft is at fault? How so?

They produced this movie and its THEIR intellectual property being adapted, so you can rest assured that they had a lot of say in how Fox Studios distributed this movie.

Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
I would think Ubisoft would be disappointed at how FOX distributed the movie.

Well, you haven't been paying attention then if you believe that. Ubi Soft is indifferent at best to the way this movie was distributed and to its success, as they made very clear when they basically said that profit, even if they had a considerable stake in investments, isn't even their motive, but to raise awareness for the game itself. It makes me want to piss on the side of Ubi-Soft's headquarters even more. I hate them with a passion.

Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
I don't see how that statement made by Ubisoft proves that they don't care about the movie's success. In order to raise awareness for the game, the movie has to make money!

Well that's not how they explained it. In their weird little minds, the movie just being in theaters is considered "raising awareness" for the game, whether the movie actually does well or not. Its a f#cking joke.

Re: Only 3 moving showings a day at my theater
They know which movie will bring them money hence that movie has most show times. AC won't even make half for sure.
I think after this incident, they will know how to make a better AC movie, based on all the reviews, and maybe one day they will give us a better movie. Everything happens for a reason. I think a good video game movie will come one day and it might be AC, you never know :/

This 100%.
It's getting a bare bones release because they knew in advance it was a stinker.

Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
Some people are claiming it's either Ubisoft or Fox who's responsible for this. Neither is true.
It's entirely up to the theater managers. I know one such manager who decides how many theaters and how many showings a movie gets based on ticket sales. Obviously, the more popular something seems to be, the more showings will be set up by the theater. Unfortunately, the competition of Rogue One and Sing have led many theaters to put butt-tons of showings for those films and few for this one. My local theaters also have only 2-3 showings a day, none of them on premium screens.

It's Ubisoft and Fox's fault. They decided when to release the movie.
Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
Oh, that part I'm not arguing. Sorry if that's what it sounded like. I just meant the lack of general showings. :)

If this is the case, then its STILL Ubi Softs and Fox Studios fault as one guy brought up for releasing this movie so close to Rogue One. They should have delayed the release until January so that they didn't have to worry about competition with other major releases like Star Wars and Sing. I've been saying this since before the first damn trailer came out. Movie making is Fox Studios business so they know better. This is just another example of the total lack of care the studios had for this movies success, and now its a flop waiting to happen.

Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
It isn't on in my part of town, but it is a latino area so not every movie comes here.
Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
That's kinda the point. No one expects it to be bigger than the new SW thing which I care nothing about. Force Awakens killed that franchise for me although to be honest the last trilogy (Anakin: the early years) mortally wounded it a long time ago. But, back on topic, with all the support going to that and Sing, Assassin's doesn't have a lot of showings anywhere near me and I actually enjoyed it a lot. SW traditionally has a bigger fan base though so the theaters are going to play to that unfortunately.
I just hope overseas can make up for it so that I can get a sequel because I definitely want to see more of this world.

Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
If you didn't like force awakens you will love Rogue one a much better movie imo
Re: Only 3 showings a day at my theater
Yeah I had to go to a differet theater than I normally do AMC only showed it like 4 times and a huge gap from 4 pm to 9 pm. Weird.
