Comic Books and Comic-Con : Batman (1966) established what Batman is today

Batman (1966) established what Batman is today

This show invented the idea of Batgirl being Commissioner Gordon's daughter.

Catwoman was a cat burglar in the comics. This series invented Catwoman as having "cat-like" mannerisms and use of catty puns PURRRR-fect which other actors have mimicked. It also invented the latex cat suit look.

Burgess Meredith was asked to smoke for the role of Penguin, which he hated, and made him cough. He turned his coughs into "wa-wa-wa's" which became a trademark of the Penguin character.

Riddler was just a minor villain in the comics. He was picked for Batman: The Movie so Joker could have another funny man to play off of, and now he's one of the most popular Batman villains.

Alfred was killed off years before the show. The show used Alfred, and he became a permanent staple to the Batman character.

Cesar Romero was the first actor to ever play Joker, so what you see is entirely Romero's creation. Every actor that has played Joker since has been inspired to some degree from Romero.

This show invented the name "Mr. Freeze" which was used ever since.

Frank Gorshin started out wearing skin-tight spandex as Riddler. He didn't feel comfortable wearing it, so he eventually had a green suit designed with question marks. The question mark suit became a staple to Riddler.

This show heavily relied on Batman using a rope with a hook to climb buildings (where the camera was turned sideways); an updated version of the gatling hook has become a Batman trademark.

The Batman comics were going to end before the show boosted his popularity.

Those are subjective…

Your Batman trivia only relates to Batman Returns and Batman (1989), really?

Re: Batman (1966) established what Batman is today

You gotta give Warhol some credit for the 1966 movie that lead to the TV series…it was inspired by his lost film, Batman / Dracula

There was even an episode with a Baby Jane Holzer character.
