Try playing an RTS or Moba on console. Tell me how that works? Some games really don't work on consoles.

Pretty much all of them ever since I switched back to PC gaming a year ago.

I actually play so few games on consoles now that this has become a hard question to answer simply because I'm just not familiar with the console versions of most games anymore. So with that in mind I can't really give any specific titles, but I can talk about types of games. I'd say RTS games, first person shooters, anything that relies heavily on the use of a mouse or a cursor as part of the gameplay ala XCom, puzzle games. Those are things that just don't really work on a console in my opinion.

I access my Steam account and play many PC games only to giant parties in my house where everyone makes a Laugh Contest everytime we do play a PC game.

Wow, you get a whole room of people watching you play fun PC games and laughing, and seeing who can have the better time? You must have sunk a ton of money into your rig to pull off something like that. If only on the monitor so everybody can see the game clearly. If I'd sunk that much into my PC I'd be much more willing to part with the console versions of games I own for that PC as well.

XCOM just weirdly has crappy controls. Consoles were basically the home of turn based tactical games during the PSX era, and they didn't have janky controls like Enemy Within has, even Enemy Unknown controlled better. Don't know if XCOM 2 has a similar problem.

I have no idea what the controls are for XCOM on the consoles. That game can feel somewhat clunky even on a PC, though with the ability to map whatever keys I'd want helps that out. I can't even imagine how those controls would translate to a console.

You can't imagine? It's a turn based game with very few commands, not exactly hard to wrap your head around how it might work. It's not even like new XCOM is a complicated turn based game.

DudeYOU'RE the one who said the console controls are sh!tty. I was merely saying that I can't imagine how clunky they'd be on a console because they can be clunky even on a PC. Especially for people who are new to the game. Trying to make that work with a controller seems like it'd be a mess.

That right analog stick helps a lot, I imagine.

D-Pads were pretty bad for sim/turn-based games. Now I'd think it's fairly playable - not ideal but probably pretty fun.

Dude, you were talking about mapping buttons and needing hot keys. But XCOM is a very simple turn based game where that kind of thing wouldn't ever be a problem. You got like six actions a unit can do or something. That part of the game works just fine, if I remember right you use the bumpers to switch units, (which you don't have very many of) you use the d-pad to select whatever action you want, and you've got an action or two set to face buttonsor something like that, it's been a bit since I've played it. There's other easy ways they could have done it too, like a radian wheel, just having you pull a trigger or bumper to alter the face buttons into different action, or just have menus like JRPGs have; (although those latter two might be a little overkill give how few action units have) but what's there is a very easy system to use and understand for picking actions.

I was talking about just moving the units around on the map, for whatever reason, at least in Enemy Within, those controls are pretty bad. They just have a really bad cursor in the game, specifically Enemy Within.

I used to run the show as a whelp at the local arcade.

Almost got my butt kicked by teenagers a few times.

I had some fun on consoles, but it just wasn't the same.

Basically every first person shooter before the Xbox came along and they started designing the games to be played with a controller. CRPGs that keep the point-and-click controls as opposed to giving you direct control, although I'd say that direct control is more fun.

Aren't some of the best mech games ever made console games? Even one of the biggest sim mech games is on the original Xbox.

Star Fox Zero. Having to divide your attention between the game pad and the tv screen is annoying. Maybe it's just me, but maybe Star Fox Zero was the Star Fox Wii game that Nintendo had been hinting at since the Wii came out but never happened because I think the controls would've worked better on a Wii console instead of a Wii U but maybe it's just me.

I thought of another one, playing Super Smash Bros Brawl with the Wii remote pissed me off but I feel embarrassed that I didn't get a Wii control that would've worked better for that particular game. I was in high school when that game came out so I couldn't really afford a better control for Super Smash Bros Brawl because like all teenagers was always broke.
