Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I once made a thread on the board for The Editor (2014) about how hot all of the actresses were, and I got a thank you from Sheila Campbell, who played the blind chick.

"You gotta punch the clock, why don't you punch Col Needham?"

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

One of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live responded to me once! It was Laraine Newman. I posted something on her board about how she was probably the best, most highly trained and experienced actress, the one who had the clearest idea of how to act, how to perform, on the original show. Paradoxically, audiences responded more to the sheer anarchy of the other cast members, who were just winging it. She thanked me for my kind words.

Also, the girl who played the drunk Amish girl in Sex Drive, the one who keeps yelling RUMSPRINGAAAAAAA!!! and barfing, she responded to me once.

For Grave Encounters I'm Lance Preston.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I've talked to Ed Bishop on the Redneck Zombies board.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

My favorite is the thank you from the director of Death Bed: The Bed That Eats. My user comments were favorable to his film because I loved its absolute weirdness.

They were just Thank-You's to a group of us for saying nice things about some bad movies they made. But I've kept them on my Friends list since then for over 10 years. I don't know why. Guess I was expecting sex someday.

Casper Van Dien would occasionally frequent his own message board, and I spoke a few times and got a response. Except he would only pop in to promotewhenever one of his films was in post-production. But a lot of folks (including myself) were never really convinced that he was the real deal. Some people outright accused him of being a fake or a Troll. And he (if it really was him) eventually stopped posting. So I don't know what to think.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Yes, Dustin Ferguson (an independent, low budget filmmaker) responded to me after I pretty much said "Legacy of Boggy Creek isn't the greatest movie, but you can tell everyone involved had a great time so that made it fun for the viewers." And he thanked me and said yes, they really did have a good time.

Also, occasionally I get random messages from someone who claims to be Ellen Hamilton Latzen (the person's username is even ellenhamiltonlatzen). Apparently she appeared in movies like Fatal Attraction as a child but I've never seen any of them. Anyways, the messages she sent me were always kind of odd. She always complained to me about how random people on the Internet were always saying she looked like a boy in her movies and how much it hurt her. I always responded just to be polite, but I've never expressed anything about being a fan of hers or any of her movies so I wondered why she came to me. She claimed she saw me on the Village of the Damned (1960) board and decided to send me a message. But I'm not sure if it's really her or not.

Daeg Faerch and Geretta Geretta have also posted links to lists I put them in on Facebook if I remember correctly.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

James Franco sent me pictures of his junk.

imo

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

David Hayter (Voice actor and screenwriter) used to post on his board. We talked about the Metal Gear series, and what he was writing ect

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Lauren Hennebrg once thanked me for noticing her after a thread i made on her board about her look and working episodes of "the vampire Diaries" in season 1. she said the show ruled and she was a rocker chick. Neil Giuntoli mentioned that he retired from acting and lives on an island. when i asked where he had been since "henry portrait of a serial killer part 2"

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Not me personally. The director of xtro did post once in a while to that board. Pretty funny, honest guy. Very self deprecating. That might be my favorite time someone responded to people on their own boards.

I'm going to miss that sort thing when the boards go.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Not here but on FB I had a quick chat with Camille Keaton star of original I Spit On Your Grave about the upcoming sequel and with Todd Sheets, famed indie horror director talking about his new flick Dreaming Purple Neon

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

A few years ago I was a regular on the Amazon horror board, one of the female posters on there became friends with Camille on FB, and ended up going and visiting her in real life.

I've chatted multiple times with Tiffany Shepis over on FB, even talked to her and Debbie Rochon about favorite Twilight Zone episodes. FB's a great place to talk to celebs, well, the lesser known ones at least haha

nice! i know of both Tiffany and Debbie, that's awesome, those two women put out a lot of horror!

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

And both still going strong in the horror field.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Steve De Jarnatt, director of Cherry 2000 and Miracle Mile, sent me a PM just a couple of days ago.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

That's cool. Don't know why he didn't make more movies. I haven't watched "Cherry 2000", but "Miracle Mile" is extremely skillfully done.

Nancy Pelosi: "Tell 'em you're a Muslim. Tell 'em you're a Muslim."

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

To be honest, Cherry 2000 isn't all that, but Miracle Mile is a 10/10 for me. Most directors don't even get close to having one truly great film, so he should be proud of himself.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Perhaps the "well ran dry" after that movie for him.

I rented the new Blu-ray of that on the Netflix mail service earlier last year. Pretty awesome flick.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Cherry 2000 is pretty cool. It isn't as good as Miracle Mile, but it's still pretty great none the less. You ever see that movie Wristcutters: a Love Story? Really reminds me of a cherry 2000. Kind of funny how two movies very similar to Cherry 2000 and Miracle Mile came out within just a couple years of each other.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Jason Horton the director of Edges of Darkness. He was probably happy that someone made a positive comment about his micro budget film.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I think the guy who played Andy in Redneck Zombies replied to a comment I left on a thread a few years ago.

Our songs will all be silenced, but what of it? Go on singing. Orson Welles

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Yeah, he and Ed Bishop both were active on the Redneck Zombies board.

The nerdy guy who was constantly changing his shirt?

"You gotta punch the clock, why don't you punch Col Needham?"

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Ryan Nicholson (Gutterballs, Live Feed, Hanger) is pretty active on the boards for his movies. Was cool to thank a filmmaker personally.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Not an actor or anything, but Dinah Cancer (of the band 45 Grave) and I periodically conversed through AOL's instant messenger back in like '99 or 2000. We'd chat about horror films, mostly.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Christine Elise, who played Kyle, one of the lead characters in Child's Play 2(1990), responded to one of my messages when I made the assumption that she might not keep in contact with her co-stars from the film.

well I can't sign up there but also try the FB IMDB site if you can or dolemitesdick "TheHorrorBoard.com" to keep in touch! If anything pm your email to keep in touch for awhile

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I got a PM from Aussie porn actress Angela White asking me to add all these missing credits for her on the IMDb. That for me was the definite highlight as far as hearing from some kind of celebrity on the IMDb. She gave me a free one year all-access pass to her official website as a thank you gift.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

In my review of Under The Skin I described Scarlett Johansson's bum as tubby. Next morning there was a knock at my door, and when I opened it I found Ms Johansson standing there. She pulled down her pants and mooned me, then shed her skin and blew away in the wind. Glorious.

The guys behind The Battery (2012) PM'd me to fund their next project, but I've been using keyboards for so long I've forgotten how to write a cheque.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Gay.

"You gotta punch the clock, why don't you punch Col Needham?"

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Be honest - it's not the greatest ass. More cooking apple than peach.

She did an interview afterward and came across all embarrassed. Seemed like the director persuaded her to reveal more than she intended.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I never said it was the greatest. But tubby? Give me a break.

Alright. She has a butty ass.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Tex Montana any good?

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Not that I'm aware of, but it's practically impossible to tell for sure. Hell, even on facebook, you don't even know if it's really them unless you're viewing a live feed or something like that. It wouldn't surprise me if I've run across a few here and there without knowing it.

Don't give up the fight for truly independent cinema!

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

A hundred or so years ago, I got a PM from somebody who claimed to have been an FX technician on the original Ghostbusters. That's it.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I once replied here on a thread about The Battery.

I have still never seen it actually, and didn't say anything bad about the movie or anything, but just relayed that a friend of mine was a producer on it and had a bad experience where he got screwed out of some credits and money, and that I was supposed to work on the film and met the writer/director/producer/star about contributing but that he didn't follow through because my friend and he had clashed.

I didn't get into specifics, and pointed out that I don't really know what went down exactly and only got a second hand story but it seemed like they were being uncool about things.

It was the only time I ever remembered getting reported and getting that 'red warning.' I'd never seen it before, only heard about it from others on these boards. As far as I knew it was just a legend.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

There is also some random actress I came across one time named Kimber Closson. She was credited as being in a movie called Contagion, from like 1912 or something like that, as well as the Steven Soderbergh movie.

I posted on her board and said something to the effect of 'Long career: Spanning over 100 years apparently.'' I randomly checked back a while later and she responded saying it was amusing and that she was trying to fix it but that IMDb was being uncooperative.

I never chimed in, but the director of Satan's Little Helper, who I didn't know was a sort of cult figure, responded on that movie's board; and the director of Nightmare Man, responded to people on that board.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

Blanchard Ryan when Open Water came out.

They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash.

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

I got a PM on here from the director of Death Bed: The Bed That Eats, thanking me for a positive review I wrote.

I've had conversations on FB with Bill Zebub, Barry J. Gillis, Brian Paulin, Kevin Van Hentenryck, Todd Sheets, Leif Jonker, Tim Ritter, and Chris Seaver. Skyped with him several times.

Well, Frank. Looks like another one of those long, hard ones William Kerwin

Re: Has an actor or filmmaker ever responded to you on IMDb?

forgot about Death Bed, that flick is good crazy fun!

BJG - read your TE review of Things, totally intruiging, intend to seek it out soon

Not On IMDb, but….

.Issac Hayes was a friend of my family since he and my Uncle went to elementary school together, so I was able to meet him plenty of times as a kid.

Kathy Bates, Morgan Freeman, B.B King, Al Green, Justin Timberlake, George Hamilton, Jerry (The King) Lawler, Mavis Staples, Bob Dylan, Gary Busey, Korn, Erin Gray (from Buck Rogers), The Judds (except Naomi) (and many others) I met on Beale Street, because they either frequent Memphis, lived in Memphis or were just born in Memphis.

I met fat ass Elvis while he was visiting a Motorcycle store across the street from my school when I was about 7 or 8 years old.

I met Dennis Quaid when he was filming Great Balls Of Fire at my old elementary school. But Winona Ryder was sorta snobbish and just waved to us from a distance away.

But none of that contact was on the IMDb boards.

Honorable Mention

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Julian Bond are civil rights leader I've shaken hands with several times when they came to town to visit The Lorraine Motel (now, The National Civil Rights Museum) and the Mason Temple Church where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr sermoned his famous/final I Have A Dream/I've Been To The Mountaintop" speech.
