Love Trumps Hate chuckie did you forget that?
Or are you still bitter that your leading lady failed miserably? 2016 was a sad year for feminist sjw warriors like you. Not only did your propaganda movie fail, but you lost the election, the house, the senate and soon the Supreme Court!

That's not my slogan. My slogan is "If people hate you for no reason give those motherfkkers a reason."
"No no no- don't tug on that you never know what it might be attached to."

I know you hate Feig, but fact (the non-alternative kind) is that he didn't say/write bad things about the so-called fans of Ghostbusters until they had gone completely feral on him, his actors and his film.
Did you even see or hear people talk about this movie, even LONG before it opened.
People were animals! Tearing it apart, namecalling everyone involved and everyone who even dared utter something positive or even say thing like "maybe you could wait until you've seen it before flinging poo". I know, because these are things similar to what I tried telling people hating it seemingly out of general principle. And these benign comments earned me "cuck", "mangina" and other more explicit things in return.
Feig's comments on this might have been harsh and said in affect, but boy were they warranted.
Most people on THIS board. And sadly many others, disgust me, with their words and with their ignorance.
Thanks for removing my last little smidge of nostalgia.
Go ahead, IMDb. You can close this can of worms now. Nobody wants this anymore.

So you admit he's thin-skinned. Do you think Feig is the only person in Hollywood this happened to? Ask Michael Bay and ask Stephenie Meyer. He's called a sexist man-child who plays with too much explosions and she's considered one of the biggest hack writers of all time. Do you see any of them attacking their potential customers? No. People railing on films, directors, writers, and other creators of arts has been happening long before Feig decided he wanted to be a director and will happen long after we're all gone.
No, it was Feig who started this crap when he insulted people. If he's angry, fine, he has a right to be and no one should police how he feels, but he needed to keep his crap bottled up so his film can sell. It wasn't like anyone insulted his wife, which is what one of his defenders did to James Rolfe when he said didn't want to watch this movie.

Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
True, from a purely marketing standpoint, Feig should have just shut his yap and let everybody tear him, his actors and his movie a new one.
And maybe he IS thin skinned in that regard.
But at the same time I can't help thinking that he was warranted his verbal outburstat least to a certain degree.
Was it smart? No, not at all.
Was it stuff that needed to be said (and had alreday been said over and over again by other people in response to the vitriolic hate spewing from this board)? Yes! A thousand times, yes!
I can't speak for everyone, but I never defended the film itself - until I had seen it - but I did, and still do, pounce on people judging stuff they have never seen. It's the most stupid thing ever, and people were hating this film, en masse, long before it ever came out.
This board, and others like it, is probably the main reason why the forums are shutting down. They no longer fill any positive use on this site, because people can't behave in a civil way.

That's not what happened. Sure, the movie was getting the usual contentious grumblings that follow every remake, but it didn't blow up until after Feig started flappin' his hands and throwing a hissy fit.
And maybe he IS thin skinned in that regard.
He's thin-skinned in every regard. He's a grown man with the manners of a repulsively spoiled child, and that;s why he disgusts me.
But at the same time I can't help thinking that he was warranted his verbal outburstat least to a certain degree.
No, he wasn't. The people he's tying to bilk money from owe him absolutely nothing. He should be grateful for every scratched nickel.
Was it smart? No, not at all.
I don't care if it was smart, it was disgraceful behavior unworthy of a grown-ass man.
Was it stuff that needed to be said (and had alreday been said over and over again by other people in response to the vitriolic hate spewing from this board)? Yes! A thousand times, yes!
Horsesh!t. He took the 'geek culture' that had legitimate concerns with the first trailer that he himself admitted was awful and threw them under the same bus as the 'a$$holes.' He deserves every single thing that came his way after that.
I can't speak for everyone, but I never defended the film itself - until I had seen it - but I did, and still do, pounce on people judging stuff they have never seen.
I judged whether I wanted to see the movie based on the trailer. As with so many other remakes, I decided it looked like a pointless rehash in which I had no interest, and that decision was cemented by Feig's sanctimonious attitude. It has now become a point of principle with me never to watch this sh!thouse fire of a movie even for free on a rainy Sunday. What are you going to do, make me buy the DVD?
It's the most stupid thing ever, and people were hating this film, en masse, long before it ever came out.
There's a reason for that, which of course, you're blind to because you never gave a rat-sh!t in a rusty tin bucket about the hate coming from the movie. They were attacked in every form of media as the basement-dwelling virgin a$$holes of geek culture simply for loving the original and saying the trailer made this one look like day-glo garbage. They even pitied James Rolfes' wife simply because he refused to review the movie. Now, how the splintered f*@k do you expect people to react when you talk to them like that?!
This board, and others like it, is probably the main reason why the forums are shutting down. They no longer fill any positive use on this site, because people can't behave in a civil way.
F*@k civility. Manners do nothing for art. All they do is allow mediocre hacks like Feig to thrive unchallenged, and all IMDb is doing is capitulating to the banality they call a 'positive, useful experience.' They're dislocating their elbows patting themselves on the back over this, and it makes me want to throw up.
I give f*@k zero. It's like giving no f*@ks, only without the calories.

You mean that one of the main cast and about 30 other ladies all holding up a sign that said "Girl Power"?
I read hate as soon as the first still image became public.
Yeah, nothing alienating about that in a supposedly progressive and modern movie
Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
I saw that image, but fail to see what is so threatening about it
Must be frail egos a'plenty out there.
Must be frail egos a'plenty out there.
Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
Well, when the director says "We're making a modern and progressive reboot" but you see 4 women, no men, and 3 white ladies and one black that's not really progressive or modern.
Adding in the "Girl Power" is just a crass move on the Director's part to try and win favor with a very small, but very loud, minority group.
So not only is the concept lost, the advertising right there alienates at a minimum, half of your audience.

Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
What WOULD have been "modern and progressive" then?
Btw, I liked it, modern or not. Didn't change my life or anything, but I thought it was a fun couple of hours.

Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
Merely gender-swapping the characters around does not make a film modern nor progressive. They didn't even attempt to switch the ethnicities around. 3 white scientists form the company, and a black character without the scientific background joins them later. It's just lazy.
At a minimum, why not make the one black character a scientist?
Or how about instead of 3 white women, there's already a mix?
Or a combination of males and females?

Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
Most people that were complaining about the "gender swapping" were basically saying that they weren't interested when the original cast wasn't doing it and hollering about it not being right without Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis and Hudson
Indicating that had Ghostbusters 2016 been even LESS different than what it is, that would somehow have been ok.
The "real Ghostbusters fans" obviously doesn't want new or different, and certainly not modern or progressive. They just want same ol' same ol'.

Wrong. Realisatically many of us knew that there was an expiration date on how much longer Murray, Aykroyd and the rest could do these movies. We were hoping for a passing of the torch film, ala Star Trek Generations. We got none of that.

The hate stems from the fact that the reboot was almost immediately announced after Harold's death. Basically, not waiting until his body turned cold. This was even before the cast was announced. People waiting all these years and were teased for a second Ghostbusters sequel. After Harold died, we were going to understand that a second sequel wasn't going to happen.then that dreadful reboot announcement came. This franchise needed a reboot about as much as Elvira needs a padded bra.

Re: I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.
There's a scene late in the Danish movie "Dogville" where the entire town, after they've chained Nicole Kidman's character by the neck to an iron wheel to keep her from leaving the town and subject her to every physical (rape, beatings and taunts from children) and emotional (forced servitude) violation they can think up, blatantly deny their actions and maintain all the troubles are solely on her to keep from admitting (or understanding) the power of accountability.
That scene in "Dogville" is the "Ghostbusters" board (and every popular message board on IMDb) to a T, especially when taking evidence such as this into account:
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Paul-Feig-Just-Went-Off-Some-Ghostbusters-Haters-84417.html
A funny thing to keep in mind is that a number of the message boards where online civility is nonexistent always seem to include a person who's a frequent commentator on here.

Trolling is only a problem on some of the bigger boards.
The issue here is removing the boards for more obscure movies and actors, hundreds of thousands of both.

They're not.
IMDB has said several times if you want to keep old discussions you better save them before switch off. They will NOT be keeping any remains of the boards.
At best i can see them keeping a casual forum open instead of all the individual ones, but they're not going to. You and you like will have to take to social media to do you're trolling.

Highly doubt it. Col has stated several times that the boards do not work with whatever new software they've got in the works and it seems like none of the messages will be kept or accessible.
I'm hoping IMDb will do the same in this case.
Pretty sure a generic message for the "board" pages will be put up as well for people and sites that have links to the boards.

I think the only way these boards will be accessible is via the way back machine: https://archive.org/web/.
