Literally it has nothing to do with his acting ability. It has much more to do with absolutely horrendous writing. You can take the greatest actor in the world, but if you feed him a line like, "I saw him. Leia, I saw our son. He was here." and ask him to deliver it seriously like it's not straight out of a parody, it will still sound terrible. No actor can fix that writing. Seriously, it's like someone dropped the only copy of the script and got it mixed up with one from a soap opera, and in the end they couldn't separate one from the other so it ended up with some gosh-darned awful lines. Trust me, whatever you've perceived as "bad acting" is the result of a cruddy script, forced humor, melodrama, and goodness knows what other disasters of composition.

As for the accusations of his looks yeah, whatever. Think what you want. I think he's daggone beautiful.

He can act, but this was an awful movie with an awful script. He will be apologizing for this stinkfest for years to come. He's an excuse for the butchers who made this bomb. "You hate this movie because one of the actors is black!" He is J. J. Abrams' scapegoat for making a lousy movie and killing the "Star Wars" franchise.

FYI, looks alone do not always get you the best roles-it's actual acting talent that does. Fine if you think Boyega isn't attractive, but there's a hell of a lot more than just looks that go into being cast for any role-like charisma,presence,and the ability to carry off the role in the first place. Also, looks have NOTHING to do with acting ability at all-I've seen so many good-looking people onscreen who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag, because they simply couldn't act worth a damn,period. I saw THE FORCE AWAKENS and loved itit was like a throwback to the old-school STAR WARSthis is coming from someone who saw all three of the originals as a kid. And apparently, George Lucas didn't have an issue with his looks, or hw wouldn't have gotten the role to begin with. I enjoyed his performance in the film. Liked his character and enjoyed the movie. The other 6 star wars films are better, though.

The prequels were trash compared to this but the original trilogy was definitely better

I thought he was great in the Force Awakens. His character was seemingly original. I like that he wasn't a traditional brave hero, but more a reluctant one. I liked his character the best from the new bunch that were added. Not that I have any issues with any of the new characters, except maybe the supreme leader. He's too large to be considered a character.
Well anyway Boyega was great, and I think he fits perfectly into the new trilogy.

it's okay, the overwhelming VAST MAJORITY of the viewership of the movie LOVED THE ENTIRE CAST. Most people especially praised John Boyega for his affected and comedic performance. He and Rey CARRIED the movie. The only folks who have any problems with any of it are in the MINORITY, but they tend to be more vocal is all. Pay no heed. The script was great, the acting was great. This wasn't a masterpiece, but it was a solid entertaining movie.

Finn and Rey might have the best character chemistry I have ever seen and its only going to get better.

I thought he played Finn perfectly. Star Wars (all of them) are cheesy, space operas - always have been and so far the new movies tie in perfectly with the old ones.

Lookwise he's not my type, but he's not ugly - quite adorable, very likeable face and great personality. He surprisingly had very good chemistry with the actress. It was cute watching them together.

As for his acting skills, he isn't a great actor by a long shot, but i guess for a movie like star wars it's passable. I just don't like looking at his face. It's not racism as I don't mind movies with Denzel Washington for example, but good god this guy's nose is horrendous.

Saying that every black person you've ever seen is ugly still wouldn't be racist since being black does make a difference when it comes to looks. Attraction is not something people have a influence on. Liking slim girls is not fat shaming. Only being attracted to blonde girls does not make you a hater of gingers.
Just because we shouldn't judge someone's character/skills/intelligence by their race doesn't mean we can't judge their looks by their race. Because that is the one thing that distinguishes the races: Appearance.
