Frank : What's the point of..

What's the point of..

having fassbender in this? It could have been anyone, it's like having Jennifer Lawrence in a burka for an entire movie

Re: What's the point of..

Because he wanted to. Actors aren't some box of crayons filmmakers open up to choose from for their movies. Sometimes they pick their own projects, too.

Come on, Donny, they were threatening castration. Are we gonna split hairs here?

Re: What's the point of..

How do you know it was him, he could have just done the voice over ?

Re: What's the point of..

You could say it was him the whole movie long. Fassbender has a "phisical" acting nobody else has and here, of course, it was at his best. Besides it was enough to look at Frank's hands to know it was him.

Re: What's the point of..

What an odd question. It reminds me of the Bill Hicks joke where somebody asks him "what are you reading for?"

Uh because he's a good actor maybe?

Should he have been rejected for this role because he has a handsome face?

I genuinely don't get why you're asking this.

Re: What's the point of..

It's nothing like the bill hicks joke.

It could have been anyone under that mask, you only see that it's Fassbender because you were informed that it was. But if you were told it was someone else and that person then voiced the part you'd think it was them also, it could have been anyone under that mask , when I look at it I don t immediately think that's Fassbender

Re: What's the point of..

If it were somebody else under the mask, the result would have been different, because of what I wrote yesterday. Some actors are physical or ALSO physical, some are not, they are wooden, they don't use their body when acting. Fassbender does it, all the time and expectionally well. He uses his body as well as his face to express feelings. Here it was important to use the body, of course, and he did it and it was him from the beginning to the end.

Re: What's the point of..

You are only saying that after the fact, you were told it was him that's why you see what you see.

I'm sure if you were told it was someone else and that some person voiced it you'd never know it was fassbender

Re: What's the point of..

You're wrong, I'd recognize his body language everywhere.

Re: What's the point of..

Total and utter nonsense. You only know because you were told.

Re: What's the point of..

You want me to say you are right? You are not and, most important, you can't pretend to know what I think and feel.

Re: What's the point of..

No don't want you to say, I don't need you to, I know I'm right with regard to what I'm saying.,

Re: What's the point of..

You talk for yourself, please, and let others do the same.

Re: What's the point of..

Lol why is it so hard to understand that actorslike people have physicalities that differentiate them from everyone else. I walked in at the beginning of this movie knowing nothing of it, and the moment I saw frank perform on stage, I asked if it was Fassbender. I got the idea because of his physicality. Dont be so close minded bro

Re: What's the point of..

Yeah you're dumb if you don't think some actors can't be recognized by their body language.

Re: What's the point of..

I just saw this on Netflix the other day.

Personality isn't only expressed from the shoulder up. Mannerism and character is expressed all through out. Had it been a lesser actor than Fassbender, I think the movie would've lost a huge portion of its charm as Frank the character needed to be charming even without the ability of displaying facial expressions.

It kind of reminded me of Clive Owen on his interview about doing "Inside Man" where the primary challenge is being able to act out emotions and giving your character a persona without showing your face. Who knows, maybe its the same challenge an actor of Fassbender's stature was looking to exercise.

Re: What's the point of..

This is exactly the point. Thank you.

Re: What's the point of..

Jennifer Lawrence in a burka? Could be huge.
