Counting On : Nerdy Spouses

Why is it that every time someone marries a Duggar they just become a big nerd. Ben seemed like a pretty cool guy, but now he's just Jessa's lap dog who makes bad jokes and tries desperately to fit in with Jermeys friends but can't. Even Derrick had his life together before Jill but now we see only a small image of how the man used to be. I think Jeremy is such an average guy that I hope he doesn't succumb to the Duggar spouse stereotype.

Ben was young. He was a teen. He married too young. He is now kind of stuck in a grown child stage. It is no surprising his wife and her father have controlled him easily. He looks at Jeremy abd his friends like the college friends he should have made. Instead he switched to online classes to court jessa and got sucked into that life. You see with Jeremy and with his music friend, there are parts of him still wanting out.

Derick it seems more of a matter of money. Derick was volunteering in Nepal when they met, but he was not a fundie. I think Jill was most attracted to him as she always wanted to do missionary work. Now Derick relies on the show and family.

Jeremy has a better shot. He and jinger don't live in Arkansas. They have their own home and he has a job. They can be on the show even away from Jim boob, as TLC is focussing on the older kids. Actually if they broke away more, I am sure TLC would be thrilled. Help ratings. Bates are more exciting as their adult kids branch out.

Any son in law who relies on the boob for a house and work is going to have to toe his line.

I've also noticed that Jill is SUPER nerdy since she's been married.

LOL TBH I think Jill's been sort of a nerd for much longer than we've realized. Sort of the 'Jan Brady' to Jessa & Jinger's 'Marsha' dykwim? So the fact that she's still a bit of a nerd now, especially married to Derick, is totally understandable.
