Re: Weather

I'm going to forget about the car and the driveway till spring, just use the Titan, goes through anything.
stay cool in sunny Florida.

Re: Weather

If you've been getting hammered, you shouldn't be driving anyway. Get a cab, at least until you sleep it off.

Re: Weather

I'm NorthWest of Philadelphia and WOW is it windy here right now. I took the dogs out this morning and kept my eye on them so they didn't blow away. The news is saying 40-60 mile an hour winds- so there are lots of fallen trees and flying debris. I made sure we had the candle and water supply ready just in case we lose electricity. Luckily the precipitation for us was yesterday and it was just rain.

Be safe everyone!!

That's what we need - ridiculous odds, and just a speck of hope that someday, we'll beat it

Re: Weather

nannyjo, are you out of the woods yet with the weather? btw, thanks for sending your wind this way, lol

you be safe too,

The summer wind, Sinatra

Re: Weather

It is not half as windy as it was this morning, but they are saying it shouldn't be totally gone until later this evening.

So far the dogs are staying on the ground.

Re: Weather

it's windy here but not too bad, tomorrow is supposed to be nice, if you want to call in the 30's nice

You need bigger dogs

Same in Roxbury.
Hey neighbah !

Re: Weather

Hey Roxbury hope you didn't lose your electric, we had our flashlights ready b/c they said we would lose it, but thankfully we didn't, although it's supposed to be very windy today,
stay safe Roxbury !!!

damn snow

Re: Weather

We lose our electricity when a squirrel farts in the back yard. We have some dangerously flatulent squirrels here. Funny thing is, my brother says the same thing happens to him in Connecticut.

Re: Weather

The side of the street my house is on loses power 2-3 times a year, once for 4 days. The other side of the street hasn't lost power once that I've seen in the 14 years I've lived here. I went ahead and bought a 5500 watt portable generator that has handled everything I've plugged into it, fridge, freezer, sump, heating, lights, etc. Fortunately today was 45.

Re: Weather

I know, right? The people on the other side of the street *never* lose power! We bought a generator, too. But the best purchase was the battery pack for my CPAP machine (for sleep apnea). It lasts for 8 hours, and the fire department will let me plug it in and recharge it for those extended power outages.

Weird how it always seems to be one area that loses power.

When I lived in Southie, our block would lose power about once a week, no rhyme or reason, just no power.
The year before we moved out, our street was ripped up and whatever the issue was got fixed.
It only took almost 10 years.

10 years? not bad, there was a hole in my street about 8 inches deep and 4 feet across, it took the DPW 7 years to fix, they just finished 2 weeks ago and it still has a dip in it. DPW dumb pathetic workers

Re: Weather

While you are being pounded with snow, the Rocky Mountain Region is having Alternative Spring. Right now the snow is melting, causing flooding, and throwing my lilac bushes into false Spring. I think they are being influenced by Kellyanne Conway, they think it is Spring because she said it was Spring.

In the meanwhile, Utah is facing the worst floods since 1983.

Re: Weather

Northern California is having floods, as well. Nearly 200,000 people had to be evacuated from Oroville, and it supposed to rain again, starting late Wednesday into the rest of the week. But the funny thing is, we still have drought warnings all over, as well. It's hard to imagine, but all this rain isn't enough to undo the damage caused by the intense drought of the past 5 years. Plus, SoCal still takes an enormous amount of water from the northern part of the state, and much of SoCal is desert, by rainfall definition, but not to look at. Because they take the water

Re: Weather

The scary thing about Lake Oroville is that there is that there is enough water in the snow in the Sierras to fill it all the way up again. They still haven't figured out what to do with the water they are anticipating with snow melt.

Re: Weather

Yeah. I've been following this, and it's a mess. There seems to be a damaged spot, but how can they fix anything under these conditions? I'm annoyed because my front door keeps swelling and sticking, and then I realize how trivial that is.

Re: Weather

We are facing the same thing in Utah right now. The snow pack in the Uintahs and the Wasatch are close to 190% of normal. Even in the Southern part of the State we are between 155-185% of normal. The last time that Utah was like this was in 1983. We had major flooding and mud slides that closed canyons.

Well if nothing else, I would suggest that people book a river trip anywhere on the Colorado River this year. It should be spectacular!
