NCIS : It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I don't know the answer to that, but I loved it.thought it was great. The only part I found a bit strange was when Jimmy and the other guy were first out on the ledge and he was blaming himself for his father's death, then they got a lead about a co-worker who may have been responsible, and instead of telling the kid that it probably wasn't his fault, they all just left him out there with Jimmy to go pursue it.
Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I really liked the Episode. The problem with Jimmy Palmer on average was the lack of respect that people had for him ( going back to the days of Agent Lee). Perhaps the only time he got respect from anyone but Ducky or Tony was the Episode when he stopped a bad guy getting away by crashing his car into his car. The funny thing about Palmer is he and Vance are the only people on NCIS who could manage a long term relationship outside the office ( especially significant because his wife is above his social status). He had the opportunity to join his father in law in the mortuary business, and did not for NCIS, and he could have left NCIS when he passed the Boards but not only did he not do that, but instead of bragging about it, kept quiet about his passing the exam. That is something that Gibbs, Vance, and Ducky can respect, Last night, he was able to save a life. Nice to see him as more then comedy relief.
Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I agree with david a great episode, maybe in the Top Ten of all the NCIS shows. But you say that Jimmy Palmer and Leon Vance are the only two in the show who could manage a long-term relationship outside the office. How about Tim? Isn't he still faithful to his crippled girlfriend?
An excellent episode last night.

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I agree with you about Tim and Delilah but it is not a long term relationship like
Palmer has And Vance had with his wife. Basically there are no guarantees they will be together long term. I do think the Palmer Episode was the best in the past several years.

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I went into it thinking it was going to suckI almost didn't even watch it. An hour of Jimmy and a jumper..no thanks. But holy *beep* That was a really good episode. Loved Ducky calling him Dr. Palmer, and when Gibbs hugged Jimmy.I almost lost it man. Best episode in a year or two I think.
Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I think it was a great episode to grow Jimmy's character, especially since he will become the guy if David McCallum has to exit before the show's run ends.
Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
I somewhat liked this week's ep, but I didn't love itI quite enjoyed it for the most partthere were some moments that I thought were even touchingbut the one huge letdown of this ep for me was the identity of the killer.
**SPOILER ALERT!**
I had hoped that the killer would be that Commander Morgan who had a conflict with the victimbut the killer turned out to be just some random hotheaded jerk with serious anger issues who decided to run the victim over with his car because of classic road rage, I mean seriously? Most of the ep was fine to me but the reveal of the killer's identity was so lame and anticlimactic to methen again Commander Morgan was too predictable of a suspectso the writers probably decided to use the element of surprise and have the killer be someone random, I can understand thatbut it was still quite lame and disappointing to me though.
Overall this ep had some good moments but in general it was just mediocre to me

I loved the episode.
I just worry it was growing the character in preparation for passing the torch.

Well, I'm going to be a middle grounder. I don't really like clip shows, so that was a negative. I like Jimmy, but I've always kind of seen him as an outsider, so him saying how great all his friends are seemed a bit of a stretch to me. And I find it hard to believe you can become a doctor without any of these so-called really really close friends knowing about it.
On the other hand, I loved that Jimmy just ran out onto the ledge without giving it another thought and when Gibbs asked what he was thinking, he said he wasn't, or didn't know or something like that. A lot of people seem to think it was Gibbs telling him it was a road rage incident and that it wasn't his fault that got him back off the roof. I don't think that was it at all. I think it was the thing in his wallet that made him realize his dad was proud of him. It was the first time he had ever thought such a thing and that brought tears to my eyes.
So, yeah, I loved parts of it and I hated parts of it.

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
yeah, friends, Abby is always kicking him out of her lab, Ducky is always saying "you'd better get back to work", Gibbs stares at him as if he wants to kill him, Tim never talks to him, and Tony is always saying "what are you doing up here, Autopsy Gremlin?" great friends,

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
At least we know now why Dr Palmer has made some many stupid comments and looked like he was ready to fall asleep the last 4 seasons. He was doing his Internship rotation after he got off work at NCIS.

truer words were never spoken, KaitlinMMM!
and the reason "these so called really, really close friends" didn't know about it is because it wasn't actually happening until the writers pulled the idea out of their - - um, out of the blue just a few months ago while they were contemplating episodes for this season
up until then Jimmy Palmer has been a failed or drop-out medical student
it is beyond unbelievable that anyone remotely associated with the guy wouldn't know what he was doing, but ESPECIALLY Dr. Donald Mallard!
ahhhh, but I repeat myself

It might be a stretch that no one found out that he was a doctor, but I can believe it as there is no way they would find out unless Palmer told them, and we don't know how long he has been a doctor either. He isn't all that close to the NCIS agents IMO, he is definitely closest to Ducky and Abby and it is somewhat strange that he didn't tell Ducky about it. However he may have not wanted the pressure of people telling him he should move up when he may want to stay in his place for now and then take over for Ducky when he leaves, as I have a feeling Ducky may not be back for season 15.

unless Palmer told them?
you mean the Palmer who suffers from inane chatter and diarrhea of the mouth most of the time?

well, it may be your opinion that he isn't "all that close to the NCIS agents", Xeliou, but by his own admission they are his "family" and "best friends", and the reason he has stayed where he has all these many years
I swear, it makes no sense

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
Nas, what I think makes perfect sense is that Jimmy has not made sense for the last 5 seasons. He has acted like he is an idiot, mumbles incoherent things, and acted like a fool. Now we know he was on sleep deprivation because he was actually doing his intern rotation during the middle of the night.
It all makes sense now. Now that we have a new show runner he is going to wake up, be bright and alert, and will be the newly emerged Dr. Palmer, MD, ME.
Sigh, who is writing this sh!t?

Re: It was the best episode. It was the worst episode.
Yeah it is somewhat strange that he didn't tell anyone, especially Ducky or Abby, but I can buy it if it is something he wanted to keep private. I found it strange that he said that the NCIS agents are his best friends, I can see Ducky and Abby but not the rest, the rest frequently seem annoyed with Palmer.
