NCIS : The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

I didn't bother going to my high school class's only reunion and don't regret it. After seeing yet another class reunion TV episode, I wonder: Do any of you regret going to your class reunions? Or did any of you go to a class reunion that played out like a TV episode? (I.e., roles were reversed and the geeks are now the alpha males, etc.)

Re: The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

I went to one, my 20th. I had a fabulous time and we'd all grown up. No snobs. No shunning. No looking down on or up to. And there were no murders.

what!?! no murders?
well, that had to be one boring reunion, NewBe

I went to one, too - my 20th

I went to an all-girl Catholic high school back then
so, the organizers of this reunion thought it would be fun/entertaining/amusing/whatever to have a male stripper show up at the shindig

I 'm no prude, mind you, but I thought it was totally stupid
I've never been into the "Chippendale thing"
watching a bunch of grown women act like sex-starved fools (who've never seen a man's body) just embarrasses me

oh, and I've not gone to another reunion since

edit:
other than that it was o.k.; we all made promises to "keep in touch" - which we never did

Re: The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

I graduated High School in 2012 so am not old enough for a class reunion.

However, if all manner of Social Media is to be believed, than in most cases the "Geeks", "Nerds", and "Outcasts" (My people), are the successful ones while the "Popular" crowd are the ones who aren't.

All that said, none of us are really 'rich' or working a good full time job as a career

Re: The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

Like Nas and Newbe I went to my 20th, but never made it to another one after that. 20 years is just enough time that people have made something of themselves or they become the people that everyone whispered behind their hands "well I never would have expected that."

My favorite one was this woman that I had gone to school with since elementary. By the time she was in 6th grade she was this 6 foot tall gawky girl that everyone basically ignored through junior high and high school. She turned out to be a Vogue model, that owned her own design line of clothing.

When it came time for our 40th we all started friending each other on Facebook, but alas whoever was in charge of the reunion spaced it out and we didn't have one. The same with this last year when we were supposed to have our 45th. So I guess any future High School reunions won't take place.

But the interesting thing is that many of my Facebook friends that I keep in constant contact with are friends from High School.

Yes, well there when I attended my 20th we all hoped that David Bowie and Freddie Mercury would be there, but they had their own record companies and could not be bothered. Fortunately the Son of Sam was able to make it on furlough from prison, and he brought his friend Wayne Gacy to entertain us with balloon animals.

Missed my 10 year reunion. I had regular DJ gigs on Friday and Saturday nights and was more interested in the money. Went to my 20th and won the award for longest hair. There were no more cliques. Our big class celebrity was the weatherman on the local news. Skipped my 30th, but my 40th is coming up in a couple years and I'll probably go to that one, just to see how many are still alive.

Re: The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

I've never been to a reunion and have no intention of ever attending one.
If I gave a lick about someone, we are/would still be in touch.

I was equal parts annoyed and amused by the whole Breakfast Club reference.

Re: The class reunion trope in ep. 14.2.

I feel the same way.

Every reunion notice I have seen from HS, is organized by the biggest ass holes from my High School. I doubt that they all suddenly became nice people who are going to treat everyone in a friendly and respectful manner.

If anything, it seems like the reunions are another chance for the biggest dicks who are organizing the events to show off with their best friends who were the other biggest ass holes from high school.

I escaped from Azkaban many, many years ago. I refuse to go back.
