Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
Hopefully all those communist anti-Americans who were on MASH will be going to Hell soon.
Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
They deserve to go to hell because their beliefs don't match yours?
That's a very unAmerican statement.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
They participated in anti-American propaganda, and are traitors. They should all burn in hell.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
I think what misterfranks doesn't understand is that right after WW2, companies were still making planes, tanks, troop carriers, bombs, weapons, ammo, body armor, ETC. but there was no use for them, so the politicians said, hey, there's a war somewhere in the east, a place called Korea, let's join them so we can make fortunes off the war at the expense of countless American bodies, they did the same in Vietnam with Lyndon Johnson who had a hefty interest the factory that made the hundreds of choppers that were used there, then again in Iraq with Haliburton and Bush that made billions.
the writers in M*A*S*h were trying to make a statement, it's the &^%#ing politicians that should burn in hell, not the writers of a TV show
WHY IS THE SKY BLUE?

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
and what's wrong with that? the real issue is that people like Henry Kissinger (in Vietnam) facilitated the idea of a running water war, where you turn the water off and on as a negotiation tactic, and meanwhile thousands of soldiers get killed thanks to a scumbag politician. Only the Good die young, and Kissinger is living proof of that. Korea was another *beep* war, but only because the people in charge were major cock sucking bastards.
Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
My all time favorite show, M*A*S*H, (Yes, I rank it above NCIS). We've lost a lot of that cast, now Father Mulcahy. A sad ending to a difficult year.
It's called a remote control. It has a channel up button, a channel down button, and a power off button. Get familiar with this device, learn to use it.
How can we expect the world to trust in a loving God, when His followers can be so full of hate?

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
For me The West Wing and M*A*S*H are in a class of their own. In my experience this isn't a popular opinion but I confess I like M*A*S*H better with BJ, Potter & Charles than I did with Trapper, Henry, & Frank.
Then NCIS (Season 1-6 The Creative Years. Seasons 7-13 The Lost at Sea Years. Season 14 the Reset Year), Lost. Frasier (and a bunch or others).

Me too!
I enjoy the later seasons way more than the first two.
The main reason, and it's a big reason for me, is because Margaret is one of my favorite characters once she divorces Penobscott.
When she can be friends with the Swamprats I find it to be a totally more enjoyable show.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
NewB, now that I think about it, I agree with you about the latter set of MASH characters. Maybe the writers did a better job with the later characters? Maybe there were different writers altogether? Seems like there was more character development with the later group. All that being said, I admit to shedding tears when Henry's death was announced.
Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
Henry's death was technically the first instance where a major prime time TV character was killed off.
Even me who was -10 years old when MASH ended, came to tears when I first saw that episode and I did know that that would happen.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
Rest well, Father. Christopher's portrayal of the priest in wartime Korea just fit in so well.
I, too, liked the later years better than the beginning years. I cried and cried when Henry's plane went down.
Stellar* cast, always well-acted and on point.
Gee, really? Another death?

***edited to fix stellar cast, not stella cast. Far as I know, this wasn't "A Streetcar Named Desire."***

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
According to his IMDb trivia, he had an autistic son.
Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
Although best known for playing the Catholic priest, Father Francis Mulcahy, on M*A*S*H (1972), he is actually a Methodist.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
M*A*S*H is an example of how a show can mature gracefully as it ages. While the first three seasons used the characters from the stage play and the film, as those actors wanted to leave, new characters had to take their place, leaving the creators and writers more room to work as far as character development and inter-character relationships went.
They were able to meld those two worlds together very well, and even after Burns and Radar left later in the run, they were still able to keep their pace and rhythm.
An excellent group of show runners, producers, and writers. You simply don't see that much anymore.

Now I lay me down to sleep
A bag of peanuts at my feet
If I should die before I wake
Give them to my brother Jake.
He was also quite funny in Hogan's Heroes. He was always with the Allies, but his character often went in disguise as a German with no attempt to change his accent.

Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
One of my favorite M*A*S*H episodes is when Father Mulcahy goes up to the Aid Station, to help transport a patient, and has to perform a roadside tracheotomy, on the way back, with his Tom Mix pocket knife.
Re: RIP: William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
OK, was he ever on NCIS? If not, such posting is inappropriate and any flames you get are your own fault. I liked William Christopher, but I'm sick of people acting like 2016 was a horrible year. News alert: A number of celebrities die every given year, there's nothing unusual about this past year. Maybe for you 2016 was a bad year, but not for everybody, and not for me!
