Rooney Mara : R.I.P IMDb message boards

Thought this would never happen honestly. It makes no sense.

But considering the amount of trolls maybe this is not surprising. So we can thank the trolls for ruining it for the rest of us. But also lack of any useful moderation and administration. They COULD have made it much less troll-friendly, probably without spending too much money, but they never had any interest in doing so.

This is crap. IMBD on fb has no traffic whatsoever. And yeah, you can have a discussion about a film on twitter! Seriously ?


This site will be absolutely worthless after February 20th. Dumb, dumb, dumb !! Where will people discuss individual movies, especially older ones and ones that are lesser known ? No need to even visit IMDb any more then, I guess. We need to start looking for alternatives.

Completely agree, just wondering if there is not a similar message board somewhb68ere. Does Rooney have a fan site with a board? Don't think Rotten Tomatoes has anything other that film reviews.

Guess we have two weeks to figure out if there is a doable 'plan B'.

Bummer-this place is one of the few boards on the site that is filled with decent and thoughtful human beings. There is literally not a single toxic thread I can find on this board. Quality artist attract quality human beings. It's a shame we have to suffer because of the idiocy of other members who don't even visit this page.

This sucks. This was really fun place. And I was happy to find Rooney Mara fans who respect her for who she really is, you know, a brave and talented human being

Totally agree,I`m so mad about this.I don`t care about the IMDB Facebook account/Twitter.These boards are a place for real fans,not trolls,to converge.Yes,you do see some awful comments on some of them but that`s why there`s a flagging system,get them removed and ban the person who wrote them,don`t punish us for their bad behavior.Done with this site.

This is sad day it is nice to interact with people who are a passionate about their favourite actors careers. I hope there is a resurgence in their use and IMDB changes their mind.

totally agree, this is so stupid! the best thing about this site was the message board that was super helpful to get extra info and talk with people interested in the same actor/movie/project as you. Now it's just going to be another site where we can see what movies are coming out.like any other site.

It's gonna suck not being able to discuss different topics with people on this message boards, I'm hoping IMDb changes its mind or something!

The primary reason I come to this site is for the message boards and I`m not buying the b.s about them not getting enough traffic.I think some celebs have complained about their boards and asked to have the comments removed.

that's what I think too. like there's so many active people in these boards (specially in the bigger actors obviously) and it's stupid that they think that we now all use their facebook/twitter pages to discuss thingsthis is so weird

WUT???? What the hell? And they give us so little time to figure things out. Roons MB is probably the best one in all of IMDB. It's troll-free and with good people. And we're the ones who get fcked? Thanks IMDb. IMDB can end itself but We've made our own little community here which we shouldn't give up on. So for 'option B' The only other forum that I know which is decent is AwardsWatch. But it's mostly for film and is quite crowded for us, me thinks. But that's still one option. Do you have any better ideas where we can meet and have are discussions and stuff?

I' not big fan of AwardsWatch. It's decent but as you said to much crowded for us. And it can attract some trolls.

I already have one idea but I'm not sure yet if it's feasible enough at this point. I'll tell you more tomorrow. If not there are other solutions.

Cheer up people ! We're alive and Rooney is alive and making movies. We just need to find the best possible solution after this stupid IMDb decision. Everything will be fine.

I'm member and one of the moderators of this forum and I could only say - it was one of the most enjoyable online experiences for me in the past two years. No trolls, no problems - just serious discussion about both actresses, movie(s) and a lot of (positive) fun. And moderators are doing their job perfectly (tbh there wasn't any need for them).

I strongly believe this is best possible idea. We need to make forum like this dedicated to Rooney.

MKouprov has created "suggestions" thread on new Rooney forum and we'll discuss this matter there. Don't worry , no need to hurry. MissBelivet's forum looked like ours in the beginning.

This is a sad thing, but not surprising. Mobile is the #1 thing and these larger threads are unreadable on mobile. Clearly they haven't invested any time in the development of the forums.

Looks like the Mods will have several ways to control trolls besides just user name.

There wasn't any trolls on CAROL forum. Only some spam (passports, movie sites et) from time to time. Mods just deleted them and they didn't show up for months.
