The Blacklist : Aw crap… Kaplan is still alive.

Just saw the ep 3 promo. Kaplan is still alive.

I'm hoping it's not because Red intentionally left her alive. Killing her was both totally in keeping with his character and shocking, the kind of this show needs.

For how many people Red has killed - dead - I can't believe he would've not shot to kill. Red is many things but never sloppy. It makes me wonder where the writers are going with this. Sloppy because of his anger and hurt? Kaplan survives and retaliates? Kaplan survives and gets Agnes back? The part I find hard to believe though, is that Red, essentially, missed. That's not in his character.

Although rare, it is possible to survive a gunshot to the head. Many people have so he may not have been sloppy sometimes if it's not your time to go it's just not your time

IMHO she will try to make Red's life miserable. As really hope she does. She is a great addition. But then again, Red is that. Cold, anti-social, and emotionally detached except for Liz.

The show already jumped the shark by 'killing off" Agent Keen then bringing her back.Now they do the same thing with Kaplan? Why kill off the character just bring them back?Does James Spader want his series cancelled?

Update. Actually the trend began when Tom was shot yet miraculously survived because female fans were attracted to him.

Like I just posted in another thread, I think the answer is:


The WHY he/she did survive was answered in this episode if you guys had paid attention.

Suddenly an old friend of Kaplan is invented/introduced which saved her/him years ago with a severe head injury (head split open) and Reddington hasn't seen it and because of that doesn't know where the old wound and the already damaged head/brain part was.

And thats were Reds Bullet miraculously hit and therefore didn't damage any part which was still used.

Maybe she has a steel plate in her head that stopped the bullet from penetrating the skull.

I didn't need promo to tell me she was still alive, the final scene of her hand moving told me that. The promo just confirmed it.

She's alive. The shooting was a setup to enable her to infiltrate Alexander Kirk's operation while pretending to be Red's mortal enemy. Otherwise, Red would have made sure she was dead before he left. Instead, he was sure she was alive, as they had both planned. Think about it, this is Kaplan! Would she have been so stupid as to walk off alone with Red into an uninhabited, protected forestry area after all of the preceding events had taken place?

I get that it "could" be part of Red's plan.

Ask yourselves this: if you are planning this, do you really risk a head shot?

If preplanned, it could have been a blank shot and a squib. Or maybe it was a trust exercise. Perhaps Red wanted to test K's loyalty by telling her he was going to graze her with a head shot as part of the ruse. We know Red is a crack shot. If K flinched, he'd know she was disloyal, if not, he could trust her again. Or maybe she caught the bullet in her teeth (doubtful).

So uhh, WHO is witnessing this charade?

Unknown. Dembe? Any one of Red's enemies? A drone? Spy satellite? Red himself? Or K may be recording the encounter for future purposes to prove she and Red are on the outs.
