The Late Show with Stephen Colbert : Please get rid of Batiste!!!

John Batiste is one of the most annoying people on TV!! If you can't get rid of him turn off his mic so you can't hear his stupid useless comments or his dumb laugh. He has nothing to add to any topic or conversation. When Stephen asks him a question his answers are so stupid and dumb. I honestly do not know how this band was chosen. Please CBS stop the stupidity !! The dumbass chest bumps, his ugly clothes (that in my opinion he wears so Stephen will comment about and he gets more air time) and his dumb comments has gone on long enough. Just get rid of him and bring someone in that can actually contribute to the show!!

What are you talking about? He's great. His hep-cat and out-there personality is a perfect antithesis to Stephens more stiff and "proper" person. Their banter seems to be unrehearsed and is always funny.

What are you talking about? I really like Batiste and might even prefer a late night show he hosted. But Colbert ignores him. The reason his banter annoys Mr. or Ms. Pocono just might be because Colbert really pretends the guy's not there. Think of Carson with Doc Severinson, or Letterman with Paul Shaefer, or Conan with Vivino. If Colbert has to stick to his script or teleprompter so closely, maybe he's the one who should look for a different gig.

People should see him as more of a musician than sidekick. When they see him as sidekick, they expect him to be funny. But his chemistry with Colbert is interesting for how hit-and-miss it is on screen, they're both two people who love to please others but do so in such different ways and come from such different backgrounds that the contrast can be very engaging for some but awkward airtime for others.

Thank you!!! You are so right!!! Stephen ignores him most of the time but his comments are so loud Stephen feels he has to acknowledge him. Aggravating isn't it??

I came here for the exact same reason. He's great as a band leader and an extremely talented musician, but for Stephen's monologue I really wish someone would just shut off his mic.

Well I think some of the criticisms are a little mean.
I'm not bothered by his clothing or personality. He seems like a really lovely person and a genuine talent. Which makes me feel bad that I cannot stand his interactions with Stephen. I don't think it's that Stephen isn't giving him a chance, i think Stephen tries extra hard to include him. But he just doesn't have comedic instinct. Whatsoever. And they need to stop trying. Let him be the immensely talented musician that he is, stop trying to force comedy on him. He's not able to be a side kick. And that's ok! Stephen doesn't need to have that. He needs to continue focusing on his razor sharp political commentary. That's what I tune in for. Love Stephen forever!! And I like Batiste but he needs to fade into the background.
