Emily Blunt : Box Office Poison?

Box Office Poison?

So YouTuber Grace Randolph (who I hate with all my heart) believes that Emily Blunt can't bring an audience into theaters to see her films.

In the intro to her review of Sicario, she said that most of her movies have had 'bad box office':

Most of her movies lately (The Adjustment Bureau, Looper, Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Woods, etc.) have at least been profitable, so I wouldn't say any of them flopped by any means.

If you ask me, I think the era of the 'box office star' is really starting to die down. Sometimes you have a hit, sometimes you don't, you can't have a home run every time.

So what do you guys think?

Re: Box Office Poison?

Yeah, but the thing is, actors like Ryan Reynolds keep having flop films, yet he still gets good film roles. And she really hasn't had a lot of lead roles---the ones she has had seem to be mainly in indie films, anyway,

Re: Box Office Poison?

I actually feel like she's just becoming a true leading lady. Most of the films that get mentioned are usually someone elses starring role. You could argue she was one of th 5b4 e main stars of Into the Woods, although that film had more than one pretty heavy hitter in it with Meryl Streep. Still the film did quite well. Sicario is the film that will give me a real idea of where she really stands.

Re: Box Office Poison?

Not being able to bring in an audience is not really the same as being box office poison.

Re: Box Office Poison?

I just thought I'd give this thread a bump.

So in a recent video, Grace Randolph (who I really want to punch in the face) once again says Emily Blunt keeps people away from the movies she's in.

What do you guys think?

P.S.

If you happen to disagree with Grace, would you mind commenting letting her know how much of a *beep* idiot she is?

Re: Box Office Poison?

She isn't yet a big name for people to be a ticket-seller, but I wouldn't say "box office poison". She'd have to be more well known in order for people to decide whether to see her in a film she's in or not. If she's popular and yet people still don't see the films she's in, then "box office poison" would be appropriate, but not yet.

I kinda don't go see her videos, to be honest with you. She said that Reese Witherspoon, one of the biggest actors of all time, is no longer the star she once was:

Re: Box Office Poison?

I don't blame you, I've pretty much stopped watching her too. Though since it's award season, I was curious enough to catch her coverage on some of the precursors.

Re: Box Office Poison?

Well, if you don't care to watch her videos, there are plenty of videos that talk about this subject.

Re: Box Office Poison?

Trust me, the people at Gold Derby know a lot more of what they're talking about than Grace ever would!

Re: Box Office Poison?

How sad are you? Trying to drum up comments for a YouTube video? Sad sad little *beep* idiot.

We get it, you don't like Grace, whoever she is. But she is right - Emily is in a lot of flops.

Re: Box Office Poison?

No, she hasn't you troll!

Re: Box Office Poison?

I don't know what the attraction is
to me she is the most boring actor out there
everyone falls for an english accent
she is bor ing

Re: Box Office Poison?

It's just different tastes. I have always been happy not everyone thought the same thing was beautiful, delicious, boring etc.

I would watch anything with her in it. But that's just me.

It's got nothing to do with her accent. I hear English accents on a regular basis as I live in the UK. Her accent is just normal to me.

I like the way she carries herself. Her face, her expressions. If she was someone I met in real life, I would definitely try to get a date with her or chat her up.

Re: Box Office Poison?

People don't go to the cinemas anymore because ....
1. Piracy
2. Inconvenient
3. Shooting/bad things
4. Netflix
5. Single..

And there isn't any new things going to the cinema. It used to be magical, but now not so much.

Re: Box Office Poison?

that is why the media has to invent scandals and fake relationships for all these couples lol

Re: Box Office Poison?

lol oooh if a "youtuber" says so, then it must be true.

Re: Box Office Poison?

In fact it`s quite normal that many people find Emily Blunt boring and a box office poison.
Nowadays everyone working in show business has to make his/her private life a reality show if they want to be in top box office list. Fake sexual scandals, drug scandals, fake marriages, fake secret relationships, fake scoops and fake "unwanted" paparazzi photos.

Just a few of them choose not to make their private life a freak show. So that`s why fans of freak shows don`t understand why some people like artists for their performances not for their contribution in gossip magazines.

Re: Box Office Poison?

A Quiet Place is making mad money at the box office, so apparently that losing streak has come to its thankful end.

Yes, this is really me.
