Re: Sooooo tiny!

I thought she'd keel over during her acceptance speech. Loved Emma Thompson at that moment!

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Do these thin creatures even eat. Look at Kate Winslet. She is curvy, sexy and gorgeous. She is not afraid to eat. Some of these skinnies need to take a page out of Kate's book. Eat.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Exactly. Take a look at the real women, legends, who were featured in your own category (Streep, Thompson, and I'll mention Glenn Close who was at Thompson's table because I love her). Their beauty is the real deal. She may be brilliant, but it is such a disappointment to see this ridiculously emaciated frame on a talented woman.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Does she have an Eating Disorder? I thought so bc her thinness doesnt look natural and her face looks emaciated.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

OMG i know right! when she got up my mouth dropped. All the actors and people who noticed, you could just read it in their face, even johnny depp (swoons at his name) had a concerned look, oh bless him such a sweet man. I loved how he stood behind her and patted her back and all as she walked off. She has always been tiny, but not THAT tiny. Gah i hope she gets some help for that b/c she looked like she was gana pass out. Yes, Emma Thompson was brilliant haha. But despite her appearance, BRAVO to you Sally you deserved it. Such a magnificent performance.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

i tend to assume it has some to do with the chronic condition she's mentioned in interviews that means she has to take time off work sometimes.

i *guess* that could be an eating disorder, but i was assuming her size was a by product of her illness.

*You're not listening to me. There are other things that need to be taken into account here*

Re: chronic condition

i tend to assume it has some to do with the chronic condition she's mentioned in interviews that means she has to take time off work sometimes.

I believe this is the case. If it was an eating disorder it would have been an "acute" condition which she went to rehab or whatever for, not a "chronic condition" she receives continued treatment for.

It has been an EXTREMELEY hectic year for Sally, not only all the touring she has done for HGL all the festivals, awards etc, but she has also made two films. She undoubtedly has been pushing herself too far and were it not for this inordinately hectic schedule (due to the unexpected and otherwise fabulous attention HGL and herself have garnered) she undoubtedly would have taken that respite necessary to keep on top of her condition.

It's a rare thing for a unknown to hollywood actor to receive this kind of aclaim/attention and it may not come again , or at least for sometime. it is sad that it can't just be about celebrating and enjoying that , but maybe her health and certainly the focus on her health, is becoming such a concern that she may have to take time out (or at least address it publicly).

Above all else I hope she is okay and it's not as big a drama as it seems. I only hope this is not marring Sally's joy.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

she's very pretty but her weight shocked me. she was so thin.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

I was shocked by how skinny she had gotten. She looked much healthier in HGL and Persuasion. I think people in the audience were scared she was going to faint from malnutrition when s5b4he was standing up there. Disappointing.

Understandable nerves

I think nerves and sheer shock (which Sally is NOT the first to display under such cicumstances) had more to with people's concern. People with empathy always feel for someone up on stage when they are clearly overwhelmed by the occasion.

Perfectly understandable too!

Re: Sooooo tiny!

It ma16d0kes me really sad seeing people so sickly thin i just felt really sad for her i mean it's just painful.

i love me

Re: Sooooo tiny!

The only thing I've actually seen her in is Persuasion. When I saw pics of her from the Golden Globes I didn't even recognize her. I heard she's been sick; I hope that she gets better and that she puts some weight back on. She's so much prettier with some meat on her.

Thank you for flying Church of England. Cake or Death?

Re; 'been sick'

hbailie just curious, where did you hear she had "been sick" ? I mean beyond knowing she had this chronic condition, has it recently been reported she has "been sick" ?

Re: Re; 'been sick'

Somebody posted a link to an interview she did with a British newspaper in which she alluded to it herself. She didn't specify what she had.

Re: Re; 'been sick'

hbailie , oh yeh, I meant recently that interview was done a couple of years ago.

Re: Re; 'been sick'

Was it? I didn't notice. Argh, I hope she hasn't succumbed to the Hollywood starvation trend. It doesn't suit her at all. Not that it suits anyone, but it's especially awful on her.

Re: Re; 'been sick'

Oh no, the interview may have been done a couple of years ago BUT, it wasn't just a temporary illness. remember it is a chronic condition meaning *on going*. So no doubt when she gets run down it becomes an issue.

RE: Sally interview

Thank you for posting that defygravity. Now, IF ONLY people would READ what's already 111c been posted like this interview instead of just rushing into this forum like mindless idiots posting ugly sentiments without any regard! [sadsigh]

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Thanks for posting the link to the interview. I thought she was scary skinny at the awards and was interested to learn more about herI had never heard of her but would like to see the movie now. I'm glad she's being treated for whatever ailment she suffers from.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

I also thought she looked frail. I wonder if the cob68ndition is MS, given the weight loss and that she put the GG down right away. She reminded me of a friend of the family with MS who lost a lot of weight quickly because most food just made her feel ill at one stage.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

I hope it's not MS! Whatever it is the exact nature is private. To be taken into consideration, but unless Sally wants to reveal it publicly, people should respect her privacy.

I will say that I imagine for a humble, non-hollywood type, nerves at such an occasion could be so ovrwhelming that a person could barely hold *themselves* up, much less hold that (what I believe is rather heavy) globe.

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Here is an interview in which Sally Hawkins addresses her unnamed chronic condition.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/cathy-pryor-shiny-fu ture-409024.html

that article was published in 2006. but she looked okay in "Cassandra's Dream", "The Killing Gene", and "Happy Go Lucky".

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Yeh. *but*, as I said *it has been a VERY hectic year* that plus managing a "chronic condition" plus the pain of a (recent) broken collar bone, don't go well together!! When you are as naturally small as Sally is to start with there's not much wriggle room.

As defygravity08 posted here >http://www.imdb.com/board/21020089/board/flat/127521837?p=1 with links to various relevant articles (for those who care to know about that which you criticise!) there are other matters which could have contributed to any recent weight loss to consider!

Re: Sooooo tiny!

It's such a shame what women do. She looks like a lollipop, much too big head for her teeny-tiny body. I hope she puts on some weight soon!

Re: Sooooo tiny!

Some people are just that way - I can vouch for that as I've always found it hard to gain weight and keep it on despite being no stranger to the biscuit barrel.

With me it's a combination of genes (my dad is like that), and an active lifestyle. Strangely I have great sympathy with people who find it hard to lose weight, because I do believe metabolism has a big part to play in it.
