OP, i kind of agree w/ you. i've been called all sorts of names in my lifetime and if "pig" or "virgin" was one of them, i'd have no problem with that. but i guess we all have different words we are ok with and others not so much.

It's not a guy thing, it's a police thing - here in the US, at least. For a *cop* to be called a 'pig' is a very big insult. I don't think it's ever fallen out of use since it became a common insult for police in the 1800s but it regained popularity again in the anti-establishment 60s.
As for Kala, remember that she was married and hadn't consummated her marriage yet. At the very least, her virginity or lack thereof was a big thing with her right then.

Pig= BIG insult to cops. "I smell bacon" when a cop walks by- not a good thing to say. I believe a gang of guys may have even said that in S1 when Will and his partner had approached.
And also yes- Kala was embarrassed by her virginity at that point and her husband had spoken with her mother about it and she was mortified. She's of a culture that holds fast to privacy and respect, and to have that information out there is just embarrassing.
Those 2 phrases aren't as outwardly offensive as the others, but in context with the cultures, they're offensive.

So much importance is placed on a woman's sexuality in fact virginity is rarely ever an issue when it's a male if ever so that alone tells you everything. This is someone from India her worth is based on whether she opened her legs. Whether she's a virgin or not is nobody's business.
