A Night in Old Mexico : who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

It's a pleasure seeing Duvall in anything, but man from the singer who joined their pack and the manner in which it happened (i.e. really all the gringos and Mexis she's seen probably do terrible things and she's attracted to Red's violent outburst?). Then how Red was 'lightly' carried out of the club), to the chase for the money in pretty much all respects. Then the DUMB fin kid Gally. ALL his dialogue was terrible, especially with bad guy at bar scene, then how he pulled up next to the bad guy in the Cadillac with no apparent plan; how in reality he died maybe 10x, and finally the way in which they pretty much run around shooting it up with no attention paid to them immediately after.
terrible, TERRIBLE writing. Duvall along cant salvage this hamstrung script.

4 out of 10 (the 4 is for Robert Duvall)

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

Has to be one of the worst films he has ever made.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

Oh boy here comes the one bad apple troll logic police.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I think it was a really good movie!! I give it an 8 out of 10!! You trolls make this world a lousier place to live than it already is

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

What a stupid comment. Just because someone doesn't like this film, doesn't make them a troll or are you someone who expects that the only time someone should comment on a film is when they like it?

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014 a tremendously great and talented actor.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

No, but some of the ppl on here should just keep their opinions to thereselves.btw, PSH was one of my all-time favorite actors too, i still can't believe he's gone

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I agree for the most part. The film started out okay, but somewhere around the half way point it became a jumbled up mess.. The characters were unrealistic, the crime plot was inconsistent and near the end I felt like I was watching a family film, for some odd reason..

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

perfect review i tip my cowboy hat off to you

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I liked it and gave it a 7.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I have to agree. I love Duvall and could hardly wait to see this but this film was awful and suffered from a terrible script.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I was really hoping to like and usually Duvall can make anything watchable but this was just horrible. Like Randy mentioned, the meeting up with the girl was not realistic, the coincidental run-ins in a city of thousands were ridiculous, and the love interest was just kind of gross.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

God-awful.
Phony from beginning to end.
Not one single thing in this movie resonates or feels real.

Unfortunately, having the great Robert Duvall starring is no guarantee of anything.
I really wanted to like this, and expected to, but there's really nothing here to like at all.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

Senile main character. Finding stolen money. Owners take back the money, less what they spent. Without shooting them. Then somehow feel it's your fate to steal back money from the owners.

Senile script. A woman who says she is falling for an old man who has has demeaned her from the start.

Can you find other signs of senility in that old fart or in the script?

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

More or less liked the movie. Duvall playing Gus McCrae for the umpteenth time since Lonesome Dove. Liked when he patched up the Mexican or took his money. Then he parks Panama next to him on the park bench. Sweet justice although that reminded me of dealing with crooks out of Home Alone. At least they did not have him using the money to get his old ranch back. Driving off with the Mexican Cutie was good but a little farfetched.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I love Duvall, but this was a disaster, in all the ways already mentioned. But I haven't seen anyone comment on the performance of the kid, Jeremy Irvine. I can't remember the last time I saw such an over-the-top hack in something that wasn't supposed to be a B-movie.

Oh wait, yes I do. When I saw him in "War Horse."

How is this guy getting so much work? He's absolutely terrible. In the scene where he was shooting at the guy during the Day of the Dead parade, he looked like he was trying to do a comedic western role from the 50s. It's just embarrassing to watch him.

Disappointed, top to bottom.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

Absolutely agree with everything you said. I just couldn't belive how corny, sappy, and ridiculous it got in the last half. Poor Robert Duval.

Re: who liked it? i thought it was terrible. :(

I liked it.

I didn't expect something realistic, and in general, I hate realism complaints.

My only complaint was the lack of subtitles.
