In part because I don't really have any other choice, I'm making a sincere effort to view Mr. Trump's presidency in a positive light, trusting in the system of checks and balances (and states' rights) to minimize any downside risks. the thing about guys like oliver who use a massive platform like an hbo comedy news satire program is that they can never just be satisfied just doing satire. they always let their personal politics seep in and then start presenting comedy as actual news. so the dumb people watching, who are not able to discern between a credible news program and a comedian making a half-baked sarcastic news program think they actually are getting valid news there. which is sad and scary but it's reality these days and one that you better believe oliver is fully aware of an is exploiting. it's exactly what the daily show was as well.
