The 33 : Antonio Banderas was a terrible miscast.

Why didn't they hire a guy who can actually act?

Me being Chilean and quite familiar with the original miner Antonio Banderas plays, I was actually pleasantly surprised at the fact that Banderas took the trouble to speak and behave like Mario Seplveda. I thought I was just going to see Antonio playing himself.

He was NOT miscast. He did exactly what he was supposed to doutilize his star power (along with the other known actors) to bring attention to a fantastic story.

I saw the movie specifically because I am a big time Antonio fan and I was pleasantly surprised to see the other actors like Lou Diamond Phillips bring their A game.

He is certainly and never was an under actor but I thought he did a great job in this. I noticed that he changed the cadence and subtlety of his own accent for this. Maybe you didn't notice any of that nuance since you probably only speak English but the guy did a good job.

As far as the over acting penchant that I felt he was guilty of as a younger guy, if any of that showed up in "the 33," how would you really be able to reasonably discern it? These guys were in a bitch of a situationthat could fray some nerves, I would think.
