The Man in the High Castle : I have a question
Re: I have a question
Poland doesn't exist in the world shown having been absorbed into the greater german reich.
Greece probably the same or under Italian fascist control.

Re: I have a question
Italy hasn't been mentioned either. I assume that upon winning the war Hitler did away with Benito Mussolini. Hitler always considered Italy weak and only allied with it as a matter of convenience and shared fascist values. He would have eventually turned on Italy the way he did with USSR except the US beat him to it launching invasions from Sicily and Naples, capturing Italy away from the Axis powers.
Realistic vs. imaginary
I can see that it was chance that gave America the bomb ahead of Germany. In that sense this is a compelling 'what if' scenario. What isn't realistic is that the entire western world would accept living under a single dictator. The only dictator that the Russians would accept would be one of their own. Stalin is about as foreign as the Russians would tolerate. America would never cave in to a foreign dictator. The resistance would be huge. The same can be said for the British. There's too much imperialistic history for the U.K. to accept Hitler as a dictator. Of course my comments would be more credible coming from my parents who lived through WWII. I'm a boomer so I could be influenced by my upbringing.
Re: Realistic vs. imaginary
They didn't. The first step the Nazis took was to drop the bomb on the government capital, Washington D.C., presumably while Congress and perhaps even the President were convened. This would be an immediate upset for the country's leadership and instill hopelessness in many citizens. The Nazis then proceeded to take over by killing resistance, which was said to be extremely heavy at that time, or intimidating or bribing surviving military and government leaders. During and after this, the Nazis were having dissidents and "undesirables" rounded up and killed en mass. Also, while the Nazis were harassing the East Coast, it's likely the Japanese had landed on the West Coast and began taking control from there, forcing a weakened US to fight a homeland war on at least two major fronts.
Make no mistake, there WAS incredible resistance. It's just that as written in the show, this is a perfect nightmare scenario for how the second world war could have taken a much more grim and disastrous turn for the USA.
