Politics : Fox news is now fair and balanced

Took a few years but they actually show both sides of a story. Even the commentators on prime time. Just switch back and forth between CNN and you'll notice it in 5 minutes

As an internal entity, maybe not "fair and balanced," but definitely when compared to other networks, Fox (I used to even call them Faux) provides balance to the absolute hysteria going on in the rest of the mainstream. Foxmaybe with the exception of Hannity who I just can't stomachhas become infinitely more tolerable than its competitors. (NEVER thought I'd say those words. Wow)

How - by giving such a biased view that it makes the viewers feel more satisfied in their own highly partisan views, and thus less "hysterical?"

By not treating every Trump tweet as the Apocalypse. Or every Trump misstep like the end of days. Or every Trump utterance like doomsday. Or every Trump ally like an enemy of the state. Or every Trump supporter like a Nazi enthusiast. Or every Trump proposal like the worst thing ever even before it's implemented. Or everything Trump does as if it's unprecedented (when most of his proposals are NOT.)

Fox is decidedly partisan but the rest of the mainstream has gone so far off the sanity sphere, right now Fox is virtually the only adult in the room. (These are indeed strange and bizarre times!)

That, in itself, doesn't make it "balanced."

It wasn't so long ago many of the Fox commentators were siding with birthers and making many of the Obama moves sound like doomsday, saying he "hated America" and the like.

I agree sometimes even CNN reacts a bit strongly to many of the Trump tweets and antics but, objectively, we have to face that many of them are pretty shocking, by nature, for a president to say.

MSNBC is about equal with Fox. CNN is far more reasonable than either, albeit not perfect.

The only thing you're referring to is that Fox is downplaying Trump's actions. But, as I mentioned, it wasn't so long ago Obama was getting plenty of Fox hysteria for less. It's simply that right now Fox is playing defensive since they don't have anyone comparable to go on offense about.

Yes, MSNBC and Fox are very similar to each other, but on different sides of that same coin.

CNN is more left-middle, whereas Fox and MSNBC are partisan commentary channels, not true "news."

MSNBC and Fox are still the flip side of each other, CNN is still just a bit left of center. We just happen to have a president who is very, shall we say, newsworthy.

Duh. Part of the reason Fox did so well last year is because CNN went off the deep end

When Fox got rid of nutty Glenn Beck, they began to improve immensely. Now they along with Fox Business are the only tolerable 24 hour news channel. Standouts are Bill O'Reilly and Lou Dobbs.
