Black-ish : How can Dre say the system never worked for him?

How can Dre say the system never worked for him?

This last episode he said the system Never worked for him, or his family. He said the country doesn't love him back.
Yet he's rich. He has a great job, so does his wife. His kids go to an expensive private school. Him and his wife went to nice colleges.
Where in anytime in this show has it not worked for him?
It literally works way better for him, his wife and his kids better than it ever has for me or my kids.

He had to work hard for all of those things. His upbringing was something that most (even poor) white people couldn't even understand. He still faces racism and discrimination.

And yet the first thing people notice about him in general is his race. He managed to work through the system. That is not the same as it working for him. Yes, his wife is a black woman doctor. Now consider the fact that in actual fact, this year a black woman doctor offered tried to provide medical help during an emergency on a flight only to have her help rejected because it seemed unimaginable that a black woman could be a doctor.

That is one illustration of what he is talking about.

Just because he (his family) is (are) successful doesn't necessarily means 'the country loves him back'. Often times minorities have to cross more bridges just to have the same success as their white counterparts.
