It's my guess is that he's referring to how Flynn was treated by the CIA, because I've never thought he was treated poorly by the administration and, since it's a quote from Trump, clearly that's not what he meant.

Actually, the entire quote said Flynn was treated badly by the press. Which begs the question, did the press fire Flynn?

And, before anyone starts splitting hairs, Flynn resigned at the request of the president. That's how people are fired at that level of government. They serve at the pleasure of the president.

That's hogwash. The only thing that we know to be a fact about this is that Flynn talked to the Russians about something and didn't tell Pence about it. That's it. That is the entirety of what is factually known to have happened at this point.

As I said, he did nothing that warrants such a reaction, given the actual evidence thus far provided.

Provided to whom? The American public? Of course not, but then the American public is not charged with enforcing federal law. That would fall to some folks at the Justice Department called the FBI. And, they seem to think that the conversation between Flynn and the Russians warranted more information. Apparently, when the FBI asked Flynn about the little chat, he tried to mislead them, prompting them to inform Flynn's boss what they actually knew, having recorded the conversation in question.
