No. A person chooses to be addicted. Everything you do or do not do to yourself is a choice. I was addicted to nicotine for years. I chose to stop being addicted. Now, I don't smoke, despite the fact that cigarettes are readily available any time that I want them.

Lol, when I took marketing classes, we learned that Starbucks introduced the Trenta (31 fl oz) cup which is obscenely huge: http://starbucksmelody.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/All-4-Sizes-023.jpg
The reason why was very simple. They didn't want to add variety to their sizing nor did they expect it to make money off of selling it. The Trenta cup's purpose was to make the Venti cup look reasonable by comparison. People would previously think it was too big but now that they can compare it to an even bigger cup, the Venti is justified.
I suspect that's what McDonald's is attempting.
