Snowpiercer : WHO are this Metacritics!?!?

For god sake, are this people on drugs? Lately i'm seeing some crazy ratings trough Metacritic portal!! Never gave much tought to it, but now that i've noticed some pretty good flicks rated as trash, and some mediocre social dramas as masterpieces. Just cause they have a heart note and they warm our hearts, you know, olay the good samaritans note. Argh!
And to place Snowpiercer so high and even state "Snowpiercer' Is Visionary & Thrilling".

Who are this people and where do they get a "licence" to rate anything. What, they watched a bunch a movies and work for a magazine?
The hell!?

I mean I'm not saying Snowpiercer is a bad
movie. It is a watchable one, but forgetable one
to. Visionary? NOT!

So come one. Get real metacritics!
I really, really do wonder where this guys get a reference to grade movies. All of you from US, are this people known in your country. Are they awarded film savants? Does anybody even know them?

Dudemetacritic is an aggregation site. It calculates pondered averages based on actual critics, it's not a critics website per say, it's only an average.
And yes, for some reason the critics liked this piece of trashbut you know sometimes it's just all politics. The director might have pulled strings, or the company wanted to get its money back so they pulled some too, etc.
Most critics aren't fair and most people tend to believe critics for some reason too.

Aw come on, it wasn't trash. It was just bizarre and nonsensical. I thought it was entertaining enough.

Agreed, i MUST be on drugs, for enjoying this movie for what it was, a fun nonsensical adventure, the OP is mad that his hate for something isnt backed by the majority of viewers that have bothered to rate it, its nothing new, people in the minority often get defensive even if it is all over the opinion of a movie.

95% thought it wasn't rotten, doesn't mean they thought it was a masterpiece. I think it was a good film. Original, good social commentary, comedic elements mixed in. It held its own. Not sure why people are bashing it(Other than Political Bias)

Bear in mind that critics seen hundreds of movies every year. That means that some movies which are dramatically different stand out to them more than the mundane. Some people may enjoy a RomCom which is not much different from every other RomCom but only because they might see two or three a year. Critics watch dozens every year (and they are all mindnumbingly the same.)

As a movie, Snowpiercer is much more "literary" than most movies. Think about the books your English teacher loved in High School You may not have cared for them compared to some more popular novels, but you should have understood the richness of the world which appealed to the teacher.

I thought Metacritics counted NON critics' votes, too? Therefore someone expecting a Bay=esque (sorry hyphen key broken) Summer Blockbuster or the like would, I'm guessing, be pretty disappointed with Snowpiercer, I'm guessing.
Also Snowpiercer stands head and shoulders above 99% of comic book adaptations (in fact it's an improvement, the comics pretty much suck), one of the only worthwhile additions to "the canon" of good ones.

As I understand it, the Metascore is away to combine a critics consensus. It uses a more complex algorithm than Rotten Tomatoes. They also have a on-critic's section where individuals can vote on the movie. A metacritic score of 84 is pretty good.

I love it in a self-aware sort of way. I'm not in love with the story per se but the filmmaking I thought was just amazing.

I felt the same way about Mad Max.

I ADORE snowpiercer but Metacritic scores are based on ratings from people who don't have studies on cinema or art and that don't watch enough foreign, indie, and classic films. It's better to find a youtuber or reviewer with similar tastes to yours than read reviews from people who at times seem to be paid to give good ratings to certain movies/genres/directors.

Snowpiercer deserves a 6 solely for the scene with the food made from cockroaches. No Star Wars or Matrix or Elysium, come close to exposing the contemporary social order, where we're fed disgusting food, in colorful packages. I would have taken that concept further, having the cockroach food packaged nicely, with some Disney princess grinning.

Soylent Green did that much better AGES AGO.

who compared the dark knight with silence of the labms or godfather 2????? lol xD best joke all year, those batman movies became generic action nonsense after batman begins and even begins had its generic moments, i really didnt enjoy the dark knight or dark knight rises on the level that some seem to have, i still believe it was mostly the "omg ledger is dead and is playing the joker" hype that worked people up so much, because he was a great actor, still didnt think his joker was anything new or special, just a take on various well known TV characters most younger kids have never seen or heard of, he was amazing in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus on the other hand, his ACTUAL last ever movie, as it wasnt dark knight xD

Metacritic vs random guy online who can't spell, yeah I'll stick with metacritic. They give the score that closely resembles the score I would give.

It's funny, people act like critics are oh so smart and they rate based on film quality more than story or action. Yet this one is FULL of plot holes and issues and the dummies like it enough for this high of a metacritic score?

And so much of the issues are due to laziness. For instance, that supposed 7 minute speech. They showed the entire thing and it was about 3 minutes long. They should have either had it skip part or else be sure to make it legit 7 minutes.

And who are we supposed to be rooting for? Baby eaters?

I still give it a 6 because I forced it to entertain me enough, by ignoring a lot of ridiculous plot holes. Every movie, the director and/or writers are just lazy. Even a person with mental issues would spot some of these issues with this.

Dark Knight and Silence of the Lambs are nowhere near Godfather II lol.

I don't get it either ,it was sloppy and couldn't decide what movie it wanted to be, first it was gritty and then it was so weird quirky anime type comedy. The tone kept shifting, it was not consistent. I liked the first half hour but it got progressively dumber as it went along.

seriously though everyone is allowed their own honest opinion, you need to learn to accept it and move on.
