Lucy : What was the real point of the ending?
Re: What was the real point of the ending?
I don't really understand why people thought the ending was 'anti-climatic' I mean, it was probably the most climatic chain of events to happen, morphing into that black-red matter that consumed all of the computers and giving birth to a futuristic supercomputer which allowed her to transcend her Ethereal form and watch Civilization from the very beginning, go to the Jurassic era, touch hands 'Michelangelo style' with Mankind's ancestor, watch Earth start off as the glowing ball of fire surrounded by space debris, fly through
Space-Time and watch the Cosmos formation, till the very last second until all becoming void and crossing all planes of Existence until basically becoming God, then passing on her Universal Knowledge to Humanity, coming full circle, like a Cell passing it's genetic information to another.
What would of been anti-climatic is if Lucy decided to become a cliche bad guy.

Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Seems that you are struggling to explain why was the ending bad.It can happen when you don't pay attention to the movie.
By the way i'm curious where did you see that Lucy becomes a super computer? All i saw was that she created a computer to form the knowledge and create a device that will hold it.No one said she was the Computer lol.
And like comment above me said. You dude don't understand what word anti-climatic means lol.
And how on earth do you know that she was the only one that could take drug?Did the junkie recieve that drug the same way Lucy did?Oh you didn't ask yourself that question didn't you? :)
And what makes her special?Obviously nothing. She was a common average college student still searching her place in the world.I hope you watched the movie more than once before you made this Topic.
For such a simple movie i'm shocked people struggle their brains out just to get the basics );

Re: What was the real point of the ending?
No. This movie has no inherent plot or meaning. Lucy is never in danger of at risk of failing. In the end, she becomes omniscient, but why should we care?
Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Yeah it's hard to care about the movie that you didn't understood ;c
Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Yep, all movies about a superhuman being transcending space and time are inherently 'simple'
o.O

Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Nice straw-man argument you got there.
Re: What was the real point of the ending?
I completely agree, except for one thing..it was anti-climactic, not anti-climatic.
Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Hahaha
You didn't pay attention to the movie. There were a few scenes that showed bad weather, thus this film was "anti-climatic". You just didn't understand the movie.
What the? Sorry, I think someone else from this thread was controlling me.
Appologies for the late reply, but this thread was so funny, particularly after noting your observation. Give people 10% of their brain, a key pad and an IMDb topic and this is what we get. An unfortunate spelling error, cliched arguments and one eyed passionate defence of a movie.
Must admit, while I initially thought parts of the thread were pretty funny, I had not noticed the spelling error until I read your post. Just about fell off my chair laughing when I read them again.

Re: What was the real point of the ending?
Here is the purpose of life.
The purpose of life is to know truth, to feel love and to do what is right.
For that is what creates life and freedom.
Ignorance, apathy and wrongdoing only lead to death and slavery.
Why couldn't she have just said that? Then again, is that what she was doing?

What was the real point of the ending?
But for what? To pass on the knowledge that she gained? Yeah, I get it, "Life was created a billion years ago. Now you know what to do with it." Pass on what you've learned to the next generation. Which is what, exactly?
She utters a lot of quotes about human existentialism and how we as humans have basically limited ourselves because of our narrow focus on materialism, but hardly anywhere in the movie was any of this "wisdom" reflected in the plot or the characters. Even the professor didn't seem to contribute anything valuable to the plot other than theories and maaaaaaybe a raison d'etre to Lucy.
The suspense that was building up in the movie stemmed not from whether Lucy would succeed in her quest, because it was apparent early on that this was a foregone conclusion (other than at the end where the gangster almost gets a shot off, but that seems rather forced). Rather, the suspense was what would happen when Lucy reached the mythical "100%" and what that would actually mean to her, the supporting characters, and of course all of humanity.
Well we saw what happened at 100%. She's now a computer, the professor now has a USB drive of infinite wisdom, and now she's "everywhere." Great so what does she do now? Guide humanity toward a higher purpose? Yeah, I'm not getting much warm and fuzzy feelings over that.
Furthermore, what makes her special? Presumably she was the only one who could take the drug and not completely break down like the other poor junkies that the gangsters obviously experimented on. That prevents, say, someone else from doing exactly what she just did, given that the drug can easily be manufactured. But why her? She seems like a random person who became God, but that only underscores how meaningless her mission was at the end of the movie.
Yeah, the biggest problem I had with this movie wasn't her superhuman-like abilities, which was easy enough to accept for someone like me who is hooked on superhero movies. The biggest problem to me was the ending, which fell completely flat on its face. A wild joyride with a great premise built up into a fizzle, a real anti-climatic conclusion.
