Does anyone know his ethnicity ??? looks like middle eastern or something.

Actually, Jew (or Hebrew) is used to recognize a specific ethnic race, as well as refering to members of Judaism.

What do you mean by saying "'Jew' is used to recognize a specific ethnic race" because there is no real "look" for Jewish people. I know an entire family of Jewish children that have blue eyes and blond/strawberry blond hair.

i heard that he is from eastern russiawhich makes sense since many eastern russians have a darker skin complexion, but he also looks like he could be from many places in eastern europe (which is where many Jews orginated from) or western asia

Funny that I've been pegged as basically an ignorant racist on this threadbut there are some looks, albeit, sometimes stereotypical ones, that are characteristic of many sects of religious groups. If I say this guy looks like a Jew, I'm just saying that he has traits that seem similar to other individual Jews that I often meet from one sect, nationality, or genetic lineage. Jewish = religion and ethnicity, and it's officially recognized as both by most gov'ts. Grant Heslov is an Ashkenazi Jew. He looks Middle Eastern because wait for it Jews are a Middle Eastern people. Oded Fehr is another example of an Ashkenazi Jew who has played Arab roles.

BTW, the Israeli gov't allows anyone with a Jewish grandparent to apply for citizenship. So, not only does the Israeli gov't view it as an ethnicity, even a non-Jew who is only 1/4 Jewish is allowed to live in Israel.

Hey lintbrain, there are two main branches of Judiasm: "Ashkenazim" and "Sephardim." Sephardim Jews are dark and swarthy. Ashkenazim are lighter and fairer. Many Ashkenazim from Russia and Northeast Europe are blond, blue-eyed, and 100 percent Jewish. Got it now?

Well, for all of you who think you know what jews look like -

I am 100% Sephardi Jewish. My father's family has lived in the Middle East forever, until they moved to Australia in the 1970s. My father's brother has fair hair and blue eyes. My mother's family is from Morocco via spain. Her mother was blond. I myself have blue eyes and my skin is pretty white. I don't really know where we would have got blue eyes and blond hair in our family unless there were people with blond hair and blue eyes in the Middle East for my ancestors to breed with them - but that wouldn;t be possible according to those of you who think that Middle Eastern people can't have blond hair or blue eyes. My husband is Ashkenazi Jewish. His skin is a little bit darker than mine. His parents both had dark hair and brown eyes. I have known Ashkenazi Jews with darkish skin. I have known Jews with very dark skin. And very blond pale jews. There are even Jews who look similar to Asians, or Africans. It is an ignorant comment to assume that someone is not 100% Jewish because they have blue eyes and/or blond hair.

As for the point of whether Jews are an ethnicity or a religion, I would say both. Although Jews do not all look alike, there are still certain traits that are common to many - but not all - Jews. That's why people - especially Jews - will often comment that someone looks Jewish - and when I have thought someone looks Jewish, they have often turned out to be Jewish. In the Jewish culture, if someone is born Jewish, they are always considered Jewish, whether or not they believe in or practice the religion.

And for the person who said Jews are evil, well anyone who labels an entire group of people as evil based on religion OR ethnicity is EVIL!!!!

Ethnicity and religion. Of course some jews will be blonde, blue eyed as are some African Americans even, but for the most part Jews are darker compleced, middle Eastren looks.

He's Jewish and most likely from a Middle Eastern background. There are Jews who emigrated to Israel or the U.S. from Iran, Iraq, Morocco, etc.

The end of the name "-lov" does sound Russian or Slavic but the first part is not. I suspect the name was changed or there were a few letters changed when transliterated.
