She is a phenomenal actress. Too bad she gets snubbed for Emmys for her flawless portrayal of Norma Bates on Bates Motel.

Her performance in Bates Motel is mindblowing. She is a force of nature: strong, messy, twitchy, nurturing, shrill, vulnerable, funny. A raw nerve in 50s housewives frocks.

I've loved every minute of her work. The scenes where she gets royally p!ssed off and starts yelling at someone is the best. She's the best yeller I've seen.

Which is why Running Scared (2006) contains basically my favorite scene of her which is that pedophile scene (not as bad as it sounds). she's all fired up in it.

that's also the first movie i took notice of Vera which i first viewed about mid-2006 or so.

Ha my enduring memory of that movie is her super hot sex scene with Paul Walker!

I agree - I think she really carries the show. Her character is loaded with unlikely emotional lunacy, but she's completely believable. She grounds stories that are fairly farfetched by being so real in the midst of it all. As she is for Norman, she is our anchor in the chaos of that show.
