Olamide Faison : Cruel Parents

Cruel Parents

what a namethat's mean

Re: Cruel Parents

May I ask why the parents are mean for naming him Olamide?? It's a Yoruba (from Nigeria for the slow ones) name meaning "My wealth has arrived" with wealth referring to the child being born. I think it's quite beautiful as is my cousin who also bears the same name
Step your culture game up buddy before you open your mouth!!

Re: Cruel Parents

Aledajobi is the correct spelling

Re: Cruel Parents

It's Aladejobi. Must be a typo. I'm Yoruba and there's no name like Aledajobi.

Re: Cruel Parents

is he Nigerian ? did his "family" came from Nigeria ?

That doesn't mean anything. Many people have the name Sean, that doesn't mean that they are from Ireland. You name a kid a specific name because you like the name, not because of your nationality, eventhough that could be part of why you name the kid the name you did.

Re: Cruel Parents

You need to know how to ask questions without offending people. I am Nigerian and it is pretty insulting to say that his parents are cruel for giving him the names that he has.

By the way his name is spelt wrong, its actually: Olamide Aladejobi Patrick Alexander Faison

The first to Names are Nigerian:
Olamide: My Wealth and Joy has arrived from God
Aladejobi: Something along the lines of In the image and likeness of God.

If you call such beautiful names cruel, oh well too bad for you, at least his name has meaning

Nigerian belive in God and they count every single child they have as a blessing hence our names always thanking God in one way or another.

I get that you dont know what its means, you should ask the meaning before mouthing off

He has the First name: Olamide, His Middle names and His Surname: Faison. so he uses just the one name hence his nicknames: O and Lamz all shortened from Olamide.

I personally have my first name and I have at least 7 other middlenames (its not uncommon).

PS: He is of Nigerian Descent and specifically of the Yoruba tribe.

Re: Cruel Parents

How are we slow for not knowing Nigerian lingo?

Re: Cruel Parents

the same reason why foreigners are "slow" for not knowing American culture

Re: Cruel Parents

some people dont know wat names mean or the orgin that doesnt make them ignorant but there was a better way of asking or enquireing about his name.
be nicer about things.

Re: Cruel Parents

You are EXTREMELY ignorant, Luizinho. That's all I have to say about that.

Re: Cruel Parents

foreigners are in america. we're not in Nigeria. And i agree with Luiz. the name is just too long. not "dissing" any nigerians out there. but, yeah, get off his case. im sure he meant no harm.

Re: Cruel Parents

ok thats fine and all, but still.how is that name MEAN??

Re: Cruel Parents

Olamide Aladejobi Patrick Alexander Faison

There are 4 names and his surname (hence the space between each word rather that -). So I dont get your point that the name is too long, he has more that one name.

Foreigners- Olamide is an Nigerian-American and to show the unity his parents gave him 2 Nigerian names and 2 non- nigerian names, and yes the statement is directly dissing Nigerians!

Oh yeah, I guess Jay Leno is a foreigner for being an Italian-American right!

Cos you dont understand things doesnt mean that they invalid, do your research or ask.

Re: Cruel Parents

Hey, it's a good name. Stop trying to Americanize people's names. Try a little harder to appreciate other cultures before passing judgment, okay?

Re: Cruel Parents

he could've decided to be called patrick, but didn't. so i guess he doesn't hate his parents for calling him olamide.

Re: Cruel Parents

his parents are not mean. Olamide is an Nigerian name (fyi, Nigeria is in West Africa) and it means "my wealth has come" so exactly how is that a bad name? if you do not understand something then dont talk about it. learn to think before you talk becos it's apparently obvious that you dont. by the way, do you even know the meaning of your own name or even the origin?

we have McDreamy, McHottie, but when i see Flavor Flav; i think McFugly

Re: Cruel Parents

I just had to jump in on this conversation. I'm sorry, I don't think it is ignorant to not like a name or state one's opinion on a message board. I must agree that Olamide's parents are cruel, but for a different reason. Everyone is defending the name given to him because it means something about being a gift from God. Yet, his brother just has a plain old name. I guess we can all see who is the favorite son.

reallyhotammi maybe you should learn to spell before you talk. Becos? what the heck does "becos" mean? Is that like Nigerian for bacon bits or something?

Re: Cruel Parents

glaweb, maybe you should think before you talk. any sensible person out there would know that becos is the shortned form of because!

the fact that his elder brother has just one name doesnt mean that he is there favorite, did it cross your mind that his brother might wanna keep his private life private? like not revealing all his names? people are different so u cant just judge without knowing them

Re: Cruel Parents

I believe the older brother (Donald) has a Nigerian name. I think he prefers to use "Donald" as his stage name. I think it's wonderful his parents continue to give their culture such respect. That's the problem with young kids these days. They are so stuck on being "Americanized" that they prefer to deny their culture because it's 7ecso "uncool". We need to preserve our culture and ethnic backgrounds. It is important that all people know from whence they came. It defines you.

Those of you who find Olamide's parents to be mean and have the audacity to type it out or say it are just plain ignorant.

I can't believe you are ignorant enough to say his parents are cruel for giving the older brother a plain name. Next time think before you start typing or speaking nonsense!

Re: Cruel Parents

His older brother does have a Nigerian name. It's Adeosun.

Re: Cruel Parents

Really? So there's Adeosun, Olamide, and .Donald. LOL. I guess they just said 'F' it when they had to name Donald.

Re: Cruel Parents

NO. adeosun & donald are the same person.

But anyway I think you're bionic & I don't think you're beautiful, I think you're beyond it.

Re: Cruel Parents

Oh

Re: Cruel Parents

I love Olamide's name.

Re: Cruel Parents
