I read somewhere that he passed away around 1986, but I have no furt2000her news about it.

I was thinking when I watched "Alice, Sweet Alice" this week that he may not have been long for this world. It's interesting that in two of his three films, he played characters named Alphonso. He was probably a local celebrity because of his appearance, and I suspect he parlayed his image into the roles.

If only there was somewhere on the inter web to get info like this!
