Either screenplay, director, or film, I'm saddened they couldn't have given it one of those.

Then again, who knows if Inarritu's going to continue to put out masterpieces? He certainly wouldn't be the first one-and-done in history But I KNOW that Wes will get more than a few shots at getting his. Wes is if nothing else, highly consistent in his style, and that's what got him this far.

Have you seen Amores Perros? I honestly think it was better than Birdman. I think Irritu gonna be around for a long while.

I know GBH received 4 Oscars but I was very disappointed with the Academy for not at least nominating Ralph Fiennes for best actor. He was fantastic in GBH can't see many other actors pulling that roll off.

Shouldn't have won Best Original Score. The Theory of Everything and Interstellar was way better.
Shouldn't have won Best Costume. Into the Woods had better costumes, I would even argue Maleficent has better costumes.
Shouldn't have won best Makeup. Changing one person (Tilda Swinton) does not match up from changing like over a hundred people (Guardians of the Galaxy)
This film is way way way way way way way way way way too overrated.

Budapeste should have won Best Original Score, Best Costume, Best Makeup AND Best Original Screenplay.

Neither is overrated. I honestly can't see how someone could fully love and appreciate GBH and not feel the same way about Birdman and vice versa. I know they are very different, but they're both films that appeal to an audience that craves quirkiness and creativity.

I hated GBH and loved Birdman. I never once thought Birdman was "trying" to be quirky but GBH reveled in it.

You're 100% correct. How frustrating must it be for Christopher Nolan to make such an ambitious, beautiful production as INTERSTELLAR and watch it get snubbed for pointless soulless hipster nonsense like this?

Then again, I'm sure Nolan doesn't make movies with the purpose of winning an Oscar, but still. Although it IS ironic to see Wes Anderson fanboys bragging about Oscar wins - I thought you guys don't care about mainstream stuff like the Oscars, so why trumpet them up now? Hmmm

Should have won best original screenplay too. While Birdman was a gimmick, Grand Budapest was lead by it's witty story, way more superior to Birdman's story.

It didnt deserve Production design and score..a film I think is pretty good but no masterpiece,Interstellar deserved those. However,TGBH really deserved to win for its witty and cleverly goofy screenplay so I guess it evens out.

I'm glad he didn't win. He's given us the same thing over and over again.

He needs to concentrate more on what his movie is trying to say, rather than making it look so pretty.

I didn't care for this film, nor the one with the kids at camp. All style, no substance.

I thouht the film was really funny and quirkybut I dont see the point of gathering one of the most awesome ensembles,great cast and have more then half of them have two lines each in roles anyone couldve played. Like a inhouse meta-gag the audience isnt in on. Norton,Goldblum,Swinton,Keitel,Wilkinson.utterly wasted. Fiennes have never been better though.

Can't believe this piece of trash movie got any awards, let alone steal the award from Interstellar in music (soundtrack of the 21st century). A boring mediocre time-waster a best, and a pretentious, pseudo-artistic and incoherent film without anything to say at worst.

The Oscars have been on a long down-trending spiral, but I guess this year's total tunnel-vision in their award distribution seals the deal. Luckily there's many other award shows and film festivals, with a far better and more diverse spectrum of films and with better award-selection criteria. And in the end, an award is just what people make of it. If people don't respect the institution giving the award, it means literally nothing except (in this case) having a little bit of gold with filling to use up space.

I'm not hating on this movie at all, but the Oscars is the same award-giving body that chose Forrest Gump over Shawshank Redemption.

Yeah . . . and that has literally no meaning or value at all. I mean, they awarded No Country for Old Men, one of the most boring and depressing films ever made. The best films are usually the ones ignored by the Academy completely. So, if I watch this film . . . which, hmm, not planning on doing anytime soon, it'll be because I choose to do so, not because of how many shiny little statues it picked up.

Number of Oscars is not an indication of quality. Lots of bad movies have won Oscars.

You must be neophyte. Oscars are a joke. Prom night for the Hollywood elite. Cannes is where real talent is recognized. That being said I did enjoy this film.
