Film General : Good films for 9 year old boy who doesn't really like scifi or fantasy s

My brothers family are staying with me for a while and I need to find some stuff for his kid to watch. He always gets bored watching stuff that is fantasy or sci fi which makes it hard for me to find things.

So he loved Goonies and Home Alone, but he hated Star Wars, ET, Shrek, Toy Story, Harry Potter etc

I am pretty stumped because the only kid films I know are fantasy ish things like Labyrinth, etc. but he just doesn't seem to dig fantasy stuff.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for the replies so far, some good suggestions! Gremlins was the only one I thought of. There were some 80s films I liked as a kid like Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Vice Versa, Flight of the Navigator, etc. But I am not sure if they would still seem good today. Some of them probably look really dated.

Does he like musicals, slice of life, silly comedies, or action movies like James Bond?

Or even superhero movies (even though you mentioned no fantasy)?

I think he would like that stuff but he has never seen most of it. He rarely watches movies because his parents suck and he spends his whole life on youtube watching terrible trash.

I tried him with some James Bond stuff and he didn't seem to like it, which is a shame because I loved all of those as a kid and still do. We watched the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and he actually watched them, but he got a bit bored during the non-action parts.

I think silly comedies would be perfect. I am gonna get him Dumb & Dumber and The Mask, maybe School of Rock. I still need to find some more though.
